Panthers 18th Anniversary Team

With your Florida Panthers turning 18 next season, I thought it would be cool to see how an All-Time Panthers team would look. Despite only three playoff appearances, the Panthers have had some pretty good talent come through (mostly out) of the system and team. So here it is, the 18th  Anniversary Florida Panthers Team.

Star-divide

Forwards
Olli Jokinen, C (2000-2008)
567 Games, 188 Goals, 231 Assists, 419 Points (0.73 P/G)
All-time Panthers leader in points, goals, assists, game-winning goals, even strength goals, and shots. Longest serving Captain in Panthers history.

Pavel Bure, RW (1998-2002)
223 Games, 152 Goals, 99 Assists, 251 Points (1.13 P/G)
Only Panther to win the Maurice "Rocket" Richard Trophy (which he won twice), holds to record most goals and points in a season by a Panther. Third in goals scored.

Scott Mellanby, RW (1993-2001)
552 Games, 157 Goals, 197 Assists, 354 Points (0.64 P/G)
Spawned the "rat trick" craze, second in all-time Panthers assists and points. First in Panthers power play goals,

Nathan Horton, RW (2003-2010)
422 Games, 142 Goals, 153 Assists, 295 Points (0.66 P/G)
Third in Panthers plus/minus, fifth in power play goals, and fourth in points and assists.

Stephen Weiss, C (2001-Present)
557 Games, 124 Goals, 209 Assists, 333 Points (0.60 P/G)
Third in Panthers scoring and fifth in goals.

Ray Whitney, LW (1997-2001)
273 Games, 97 Goals, 130 Assists, 227 Points (0.83 P/G)
Tenth in Panthers scoring and assists, and ninth in points.

414 Games, 101 Goals, 190 Assists, 291 Points (0.70 P/G)
Fifth in Panthers scoring, team record for most assists in a season (53 in 99–00).

David Booth, LW (2006-Present)
303 Games, 87 Games, 79 Assists, 166 Points (0.55 P/G)

Radek Dvorak, RW (1995-2000, 2007-2011)
613 Games, 113 Games, 155 Assists, 268 Points (0.44 P/G)
Has played the most games in a Panthers jersey than any other player.

Rob Niedermayer, C (1993-2001)
518 Games, 101 Games, 165 Assists, 266 Points (0.51 P/G)

Bill Lindsay, RW (1993-1999, 2001-2002)
506 Games, 67 Goals, 98 Assists, 165 Points (0.33 P/G)
Has a great voice.

Peter Worrell, LW (1997-2003)
342 Games, 16 Goals, 26 Assists, 42 Points (0.12 P/G) 1375 Penalties in Minutes
Panthers record for most PIMs in a season (354 in 01-02), second in Panthers PIMs.

Defensemen will be another day. Feel free to name any forwards you think should be on the list in comments and try to go easy on me for putting Horton on the list.

What do you think of the list?
I like it. I appreciate the work you put into this, Crooklyn.

Where is the great Bob Kudelski? Johan Garpenlov? Kirk Muller? Or my personal favorite, Igor Larionov? Not a bad list, but sad how weak the Panthers have been down the left side.

Can’t include Muller in there…

Why not? He played portions of three seasons down here and his numbers were about as illustrious as Larionov’s. Or maybe Dave Gagner?

I always had a mancrush on Steve Washburn. No idea why, but something about him just made me go sigh

I should not have said “can’t”. Was just not a Muller fan in any of his incarnations.

However, you might find this to be timely ;)

The money line:
(Coach Andy) Murray has been unwilling to scratch center Kirk Muller instead of Washburn. He likes Muller’s checking, leadership and work, but Muller had two goals before Wednesday’s game, hadn’t scored since Dec. 9 and was a minus-8.
