Not sure about you, but I’ve come to find out here in these parts that Texans hate two things: anyone or anything from Oklahoma, and quitters, and part two of that equation is the thought that lingers in (San Antonio) Rampage fans' throats the most about the Panthers organization, especially that player air-mail stunt. So, if you know me, there’s a silver lining everywhere, and on the surface here, it will take some digging, but here goes (...)

They hate the Oklahoma City Thunder?
We’re getting off to a great start!

I told you. It was just a matter of time before the Rampage would complain. NO offense to Weber, but I still say Tallon plays on his famliarity with Torchetti and asks him to be AHL coach/ NHL coach in waiting if Dineen doesn’t work out. Dem crazy Texans love him like steers and…. oh nevermind.
They do know Torchetti. And have to think after seven years the San Antonio hockey populace – the ones that purchase walk-up tickets – is not too worried about the parent club being an entirely re-constructed Panthers organization. Absolutely no similarities between then and now.

Except the last few years in Rochester brought the same results as the final year and a half in San Antonio. Florida has a history of not being a positive affiliate to have.

Have to admit the Florida Panthers commitment regarding minor league partners prior to – and since – the lockout have been an absolute mess, organizationally. Can’t blame fans of former affiliates for their hesitancy. Just one more hurdle.

Donny, this is OT
But I’m looking at the Flyers cap situation, and if you add in contract bonuses for this year, they only have about 3.5 mil more or less to spend. They only have 9 forwards, 6 dmen, and 3 goalies signed. Among their RFA/UFA forwards are Voracek, Simmonds, Carcillo, Leino, Powe, and Nodl.
Unless they trade someone like Carle or Versteeg, there is NO WAY they get new guys Voracek and Simmonds signed from their RFA status, and NO WAY they get Leino signed. They simply don’t have the room.
Am I reading the situation correctly?
Regardless of their cap situation, they’ve got a number of younger players – off-roster – who are signed through next season, so I’d have to assume they will go with more prospects (certainly more than they’d prefer), perhaps a rotation. And yes, I’d expect Versteeg and/or Carle to be dealt.

“But the other side of the coin is this — can the Panthers afford to spend that kind of money? Florida averaged only 81.5 percent of capacity last season, 25th among NHL teams.”
This always irritates me. Capacity is a bad argument. Granted, the attendance in Florida only puts us 22nd, but the average attendance almost equaled the capacity of Winnipeg’s MTS Center. Ostensibly next season, we could fill to 85% capacity and outdraw them. Frigging farm teams.
I wonder if this 81.5% is based on maximum, playoff capacity, or based on the lesser capacity numbers with the seats blocked off at the top, that made the arena go from a top three in capacity to a bottom five in capacity.

The club doesnt seem to want to publicize that (and I cant blame them) so the actual numbers are the only real measure

You didn’t answer the question. Or are you answering in Yormark style and just deflecting it to something else? lol

I’m just saying that %capacity is not a definite measure of attendance. The real number of fans who walk through the gates is what should matter not how much of the 30K seat megadome you call a stadium is filled
