Former Panthers Nieuwy, Eagle head to the Hall
Longtime NHLers Joe Nieuwendyk and Ed Belfour will be inducted into the Hockey Hall of Fame in November, along with Mark Howe and Doug Gilmour. Our congrats to each on securing the honor.
Nieuwendyk, 44, played 80 games for the Panthers, scoring 31 goals and 33 assists in what became his final stint in the league, ultimately cut short by recurring injuries in December of 2006. He is the current general manager of the Dallas Stars.
Signed by former GM Mike Keenan following the trade of Roberto Luongo to Vancouver, Belfour, 46, appeared in 58 games for Florida during the 2006-07 season, compiling a 27-17-10 record with 1 shutout, a bruised firetruck, and a swandive worthy of Olympic competition.

No idea what got into Ville that night; certainly wasn’t his routine.

Would have been nice to see pavel make it. Not sure if there are any other panthers that deserve it. maybe beezer.

It’ll be nice the day someone gets voted in for their body of work while wearing a Panthers’ sweater. Not while wearing a Canadian teams’s or an original six franchise’s.

Completely agree. It would be nice to see someone be a Panther from day 1 until retirement and get into the hall.

I don’t even mean someone who plays his entire career in a Panther jersey. Just someone who makes a name for himself in a Panther sweater and develops the accolades that warrant an HOF career. Someone like a Stu Barnes would be an example, tho Stu’s career doesn’t warrant a HOF induction.

Only one I could see it happening to on the current roster would be Weiss, or Booth.. but if either of those got in it would be many years from now, or if they pick up their play and we win a few cups.
What sucks about Bure is he’ll most likely go in as a Canuck because of the SCF he helped take them to, the calder trophy he won blah blah blah.. his stop here was short compared to there, altho he was the leagues very first richard winner, and in back to back seasons.

Odds are, Bure isn’t goin into the Hall the way things are now. And no one on the current roster has a chance at the Hall, unless they begin playin like Lemieux or Gretzky and do it for the next ten seasons. At no time was I referencing anyone with the Panthers, past or present, except for Barnes, who had initial success with the Cats, then went on to be a pivotal part of two other teams.

I will always remember the game near the end of the season where the Carolina dive team were up to their same old antics. Then after the penalty was called against Florida, Belfour was jumping around on the ice making diving motions. Classic lol.
I would love to see Pavel in the HoF. He generated a buzz in the air everytime he got the puck.

I still miss Eddie. That was my first season here, and that game was probably about my tenth Panthers game. We bought half seasons for the next year and it was all downhill from there.
