I like Wysh, his blog is great and I also love this quote by him in regard to the Panthers new-look powerplay possibilities.
Better or Worse? Better, and not just because it can’t get any worse.
Speaking of that goal against the Whalers, Chris Osgood’s retirement means there’s now one less active goalie who scored a goal in the NHL by taking a shot at the opposing players net. Depending on Nabokov’s status, there’s either two or three left now. The others being Martin Brodeur and some guy named Jose Theodore.
"We don't need the designated goon. Those fights aren't even fun to watch." -Mike Milbury

I was in the building for the Osgood goal in HFD. Not at the game, but in the building. Kicking myself ever since.

I was at the playoff game in 97 when Brodeur scored, and it’s partially his fault that we don’t see goalies score anymore. Damn trapezoid!!

The real story is that was also the night of Beezer shutting out the Rangers! The Panthers last playoff win.

Just thought i’d pass along this lovely John Shannon article on Sportsnet, another fine article from my Canadian sports media idiots. I especially liked Shannon’s ridicule of our websites marketing slogan. Look under “It was the epoch of incredulity”.

For awhile I was sitting here thinking, just one more mediocre season.. One more year of missed playoffs (but improved play on the ice) and our rebuild will be set for the strong push.. but then I read things like that and all I can think is WIN IT ALL..
Sure that may not be realistic but it’s definately a good attitude to have, I mean players wouldn’t have come here if they didn’t feel they could win, so why not believe it as fans. Everyone will step up their game and contribute, Theo will have a bounce back year, Gudbranson will bloody up Moen. “It could happen”.

Good find, Bully.
The Cats knew what they were getting into with the “We see red” thing; the criticism has been done to death, but there’s always room more, it seems.
To take some form of twisted pride in re-hashing it yet again shows a lack of vision.

Lalime retires, joins RDS broadcast crew
Crazy I can remember reading about his rookie season where I think he set an NHL record for a first year goaltender starting out 14-0-3 or something redic like that.. think that was back in… 97, 98? around there.
by Rob PKane McMahon on Jul 20, 2011 3:56 PM EDT reply actions
He had a 21-20 record in 41 playoff games, with a 1.77 GAA and .926 save percentage.
Sounds to me like he had bad luck with scoring in front of him most times..

Believe it was the beginning of the 96-97 season; the Whalers broke the streak :)

Is it off topic if this is open thread?
I’m locked out of Twitter at the office, but thanks to someone in Loveland, I got a short verse in “how to” use.
I’m following Markstrom, so I can see his tweets on the old phone, and his messages are too cute. His English is good but maybe twitter needs a spell check to help him out. Since I work with a ton of amazing people who don’t use English as their first language I adore the errors.
Be impeccable with your word, don't take anything personally, don't make assumptions, always do your best...
Never “off topic” in an open thread. Fire away.

What’s going to suck is when the players get their shit together on NJ and bounce back after last year, in which case Deboer will win coach of the year..
by Rob PKane McMahon on Jul 20, 2011 6:18 PM EDT up reply actions
Hey, Sportsnet’s other huge idiot has written an article about Pete Deboer, and i honestly dont know what Mike Brophy has to say in the rest of the article because i stopped after this sentence: “Finally, Peter DeBoer will find out what it’s like to coach in the NHL.”
Enjoy!
