Man, I hope I never get to see the day where Weiss is wearing a uniform other than a Panthers one. You gotta give the guy respect for wanting to “honor his contract” and have success with us. Class act.

I don’t think anyone could argue that Weiss is a serious value. Tallon wouldn’t have fielded all the calls I suspect he did if he wasn’t.
That being said, I’ll be the one that goes out on a limb and says it – with what looks like a solid supporting cast in place, Weiss has a career year this year if he stays healthy.
If you look at Weiss’ best yes=ar in 08-09, he had 61 points (14G/47A)
Weiss’ 09-10 season was arguably better (28G/32A) for 60 points.
Last year was understandably a bad year for everyone, he still went (21G/28A) for 49 points. That was Stephens 3rd best year of his career, and on a very lackluster team.
Look at Booth’s season, 40 points (23G/17A), his 2nd best season, and after 2 concussions.
I see no reason Weiss cant score (30G/40A) and Booth (30G/30A) with quality linemates. The sky is the limit for guys like Santorelli and Dadonov.

Been waiting to hear some kind of quote from Weiss on the team. Seems excited, thats good to hear. Loved when he said that he thinks that this is our year, because in all actuality, it just might be our year.
Someone check the Chinese calendar and see if this year is the Year of the Rat.

Off-Topic. The Hawks are my 2nd favorite team, but I go onto Second City Hockey and the predicted line combinations upsets me a bit:
Brunette-Toews-Hossa
Olesz-Sharp-Kane
Bickell-Bolland-Frolik
Mayers-Smith-Stalberg/Carcillo
Rusty above Frolik? Rusty on a line with Sharp and Kane??? No one understands that he isn’t good enough to play with those players…

I don’t know, they probably don’t know all that much about him. A 2nd line spot does seem a little unrealistic but who knows, maybe he blows the roof off the United Center and proves everybody wrong.
Hope you’re right. I’m sure that he’ll do somewhat good though if he does indeed play on a line with talent that’s much better than him.

I like Andrew Brunette, but I cant see him playing 1st line. Someone needs to learn to play LW.

Rusty’s soft. That doesn’t seem to work in this league.

Rusty never had anyone to push him.
Deboer was soft.

That is true. Don’t think Quenneville’s going to let him get away with playing soft. I’ll be interested to see how he looks this season.
