Steven Reinprecht to get a chance with Panthers this season?
Following our previous story on the Panthers Reinprecht question, we were made aware of some discussion amongst Adler Mannheim fans regarding his fate. It appears though Adler Mannheim Manager Teal Fowler originally expected the Panthers to buy out Reinprecht's contract whereupon Adler would sign him for next year, but he now says that he expects they will not have Reinprecht to start the season after all. Fowler stated that there following all the changes in Florida, that he now expects Reinprecht to start the season with the Panthers and compete for a spot on the team. However Fowler also said that he is still in contact with Reinprecht's agent and Adler Mannheim is still interested in him playing there and that Reinprecht is interested in returning to the club should things not work out with the Panthers. Yes, I have actually seen a game there, Frankfurt vs. Mannheim. The game was the loudest game I have ever been at, we had a really great time. Unfortunately, the Frankfurt Lions do not exist anymore so I will not be able to see any more games.
The loudest crowd I’ve ever seen at a Panthers game was when those German fans came to a game last year. I want to bring them back over and strategically place them throughout the arena to get everyone going.

When did they come?
I remember David Aebischer had a Swiss fan club that went to every game he played in.

Right at the end of the season. I think it was one of the games right after you were here. They were up in 427 or 428, I think. It was group of around 10 to 12 people. They were at the front of the section with a big banner and made the loudest racket I’ve ever heard in the building with the possible exception of the game we beat the Blackhawks last season or any victory/goal against the Penguins.
And Habs “home south” games. But that goes without saying.

We were at that game, too. It was refreshing to hear people who seemed excited to be at a Panthers game. It reminded me of the singing at the Miami Arena when we has Esa Tikkanen for those few games.
It was sad, though, as some people in our section would look up towards them in disgust. I was thinking how great it would be if all fans were singing and cheering for the Panthers the entire game.
It was better than the early 2000’s, though. I would sit in the lower bowl, first few rows, and the STH there would just glare at you if you were yelling and screaming, as if you were interrupting their tea time or something.
Don’t forget the Hawks fans keeping up with the tradition from chicago with cheering during the national anthem… That was amazing :] rocked my Kaner jersey for that one.

I learned something interesting about German culture today. I assume Soccer is the most watched sport over there. Is hockey second?
Cricket is also big (I think). Hockey seems to be catching on quickly across Europe.

Hi from Germany (Mannheim to be exact), Soccer is definetly the number 1, hockey is fighting for the number 2 spot with basketball and handball. Cricket is not really popular over here (so smaller teams), it is big in England.
Cricket is big in the former British Empire: India, Pakistan, Sri Lanka, Australia…
