You can’t blame the overreaction to what Florida and decisive general manager Dale Tallon have done. I don’t. I get it. The Panthers have been flat-lining for years, ice symbolically melting in the tropical sun. When you last made the Stanley Cup playoffs in 2000 and last won a playoff game in 1997, you have forfeited any claim to relevance.

A decade-plus in a coma and the slightest murmur or eyelid twitch is big news — any change is good — so, naturally, the Panthers are right to feel reborn by the nine new players being introduced, along with the recent hiring of Kevin Dineen as coach.

Not so fast...

I refuse to read Greg Cote (who regularly writes with over-the-top sarcasim for the Miami Herald); he cannot write a constructive comment to save his life and NEVER has anything positive to say about the Cats! He has a running joke going about them all year long…

For now anyways, yes. When we’re at the trade deadline or in the playoffs we can complain about contracts.

I miss you already Olesz. What we had was tight. Still pulling for those 85 goals you were going to score under Dineen. Chicago will appreciate them, I'm sure.

Problem has been, there was too much change and too often. I think the one thing about this time is, it was almost complete change from ownership down (almost complete) to players, and hopefully from here it will only be minor tinkering/ no major changes needed.

Some players will work, some won’t. But the club is past the “building from the draft” stage.

We need to become the New England Patriots of football… not in the cheating spygate thing… but in the “we are always good because our roster is always churning with good prospects” kind of way.

I hate the Patriots.

You’re never past “building from the draft” if you want to be successful. Jersey got away from that. Detroit is where it is because of it.

Just gonna mention Detroit, they are the draft kings.

They were. Can anyone without looking at hockey’s future name a Red Wings prospect?

No, but can you ever?

Unless your Detroit, lots of draft picks do not equal success

See Colorado, Columbus, st. Louis,Winni -lanta, and Edmonton for proof. You need a gm that drafts right.

Does Joey MacDonald still count?

In all honesty, I can’t name most Panther prospects presently. I just don’t have the time, the passion, or the brain power for remembering all that now.
