Welcome to the Sunshine State: Florida Panthers Introduce New Players
The Panthers held a press conference today at the Bank Atlantic Center to introduce the new players signed or traded for during the spend-fest that was free agency last week, and invited fans and media to come out and meet the crew. Miami Herald's George Richards of On Frozen Pond fame was able to attend and got some snapshots of the boys, as well as some good video of Panthers television play-by-play wizard Steve Goldstein. Also, the club again revised the splash page on the official Cats site, highlighting each of the ten(!!) players signed. Definitely a palpable sense of excitement and anticipation from the new guys, great stuff indeed.
The Panthers PR folks stated that some official video is likely to be posted afterwards, so come on back later today and we'll have the links posted up for you all to enjoy. Until then, we thank GR for posting up his videos, which are linked below...

Full rosters with numbers on panthers site. They had Carter up there and they removed him. lol Probably jumped the gun on the signing.

BillWhiteheadFL: #FlaPanthers expect to sign F Ryan Carter, maybe today. Played well last year and would be quality re-signing. #NHL

Got it, thanks!
I’m very excited about this. More organizational depth plus he really was our best player outside of Samsonov down the stretch.

Blasphemy
How can Yonkman even THINK about wearing Beezer’s number? That should already be honorably retired and hanging from the rafters!

In all fairness, Yonkman probably wont be seeing any time with the Panthers this year (or…well, ever) so it might just be a one time thing

Something interesting that Derek Zona from the Copper & Blue wrote about Goldy and Lindsay in an article ranking all of the T.V. play-by-play announcers in the NHL:
Steve Goldstein, Bill Lindsay – Florida Panthers: It’s a shame that less than 4,000 households per night watch the Panthers. Their television pairing is top-notch, hidden by the weakest television market in the NHL and a team that hasn’t made the playoffs in ten years.
Goldstein is the prototypical television play-by-play voice — engaging and fast-moving, introducing segments and reading ad copy quickly but in a relaxed manner. He calls a steady game without bias in his voice or tone and identifies line changes, blocks, tips and hits without fail.
Bill Lindsay was a plugger during his playing days, totaling 224 points in 777 games as a checking wing. His days on the penalty kill paid off as he, along with Andy Brickley, is among the very best at explaining special teams and individual breakdowns as they occur. He also understands coaching and systems like few other men on television. It’s a treat to listen to him explain the tactics and strategies used by the Panthers and their opponents.
Fantastic conference. Great to see so much excitement revolving around the team for the 1st time in forever.
I’ll add this here though, since this was a fanshot that I put up an hour ago and I doubt many will see it: http://radio.thescore.com/programs/puck-daddy-radio
Go to the latest episode, which was done today, and you’ll find at the 31:00 mark an interview between Puck Daddy and Randy Moller, great interview and worth a listen.

More announcements coming from the cats over the next two weeks. We are rolling
Whoa, I’m starting to develop a tiny sliver of a soft spot for Yormark. I guess that’s what happens when there is credibility in the management, again.

I hate to have to say this, but he is a getting a lot less annoying. I’m guessing someone coached him on use of twitter.

Another tease:
joshluecht: Enjoyed talking with @PanthersYormark today about the future of the #FlaPanthers and perhaps a surprise for opening night…
Steve Diaz

Pure unfounded speculation about this “surprise”…but could the Cat-mouth entrance be returning as well?!?

Would be awesome.
