So he really thinks we’ll miss the playoffs again… alright EJ, we’ll see when April comes around.

Honestly, he’s right when he says that the team needs chemistry to be successful. If that doesnt happen in the 1st quarter of the season, I think playoffs are an uphill battle.

I miss you already Olesz. What we had was tight. Still pulling for those 85 goals you were going to score under Dineen. Chicago will appreciate them, I'm sure.

The most realistic best case is 7th or 8th seed. Most likely 10th seed finish.

This is precisely what I have thought since July 3rd, unless there is some miracle chemistry among these guys, and for that, they should all be hanging out together. Being a majority of them are about the same age, it should be easy for find them out partyin in a small group.

We can hire Bure to be their event planner.. lmao

Kind of short and disappointing. Nothing new, other than his miss the playoffs projection.

I guess it’s a good thing the Panthers still seem to be flying under the radar (other than the offseason signings). Hopefully, everyone will jell quickly, catch the league by surprise, and jump out to a fast start.

Honestly I’m predicting a season more like the 08-09 season where fl surpises a lot of people yet still misses the playoffs, I’d settle for a 13th overall pick, a little respect and another year for the prospects to develop..

however I was thinking the same thing about flying under the radar, this team is definately going to upset a few teams this year for sure..

as far as the guys gelling together and finding chemistry it seems they already got that part down from how they get along

The beauty of those 4 year contracts is that we wont have a ton of turnover and have to start from the drawing board again. If they cant figure eachother out this year, they have another 3 to do so.

Good call on the 08-09 ref. Lots of new faces across the board there too.

Minus a DeBoer/Boynton rift and JayGate at the deadline, who knows what could play out?

What people seem to be forgetting is that some of these guys have played together before..Kopecky, Versteeg, Campbell all played with the hawks, upshall and jovo have played together, bradley and theodore….its not going to be that bad! I predict the playoffs and I hope we surprise all the doubters in the nhl! GO panthers!

I think we are being seriously underestimated...

I think playoffs are a pretty good possibility.

I dont put alot of stock into preseason predictions for the experts, though they are often fun and interesting to see…

Look at last year for instance… The Hockey News predicted NJ is 5th, NYR in 13th, CHI 4th, STL 6th, COL 9th, all way off.

by saskpantherfan on Aug 12, 2011 2:58 PM EDT reply actions

well to their defense STL and COL had major injury problems that they didnt have the depth to deal with and both were doing very well before getting decimated by the injury locusts.

Yeah, Avs got screwed. I had them pushing for 6th seed or something.

If chemistry starts to create lines out of this roster, this team could definitely sneak in.

This new Panther Team....

has MORE talent than we’ve had in many years…there is no reason to believe that we won’t make the playoffs!

by LAUSMAN on Aug 12, 2011 5:16 PM EDT reply actions

I’d prefer to look at the playoffs as a more realistic possibility this year than in previous years. I won’t go out on a limb and say that this roster will make the playoffs with certainty, but I definitely will not say that the team we have cannot make the playoffs. They very well could, just won’t know until April.

And somehow people still dont get this!

Haters gotta hate, and they always will hate.

- Go Panthers -

by flpanther360 on Aug 12, 2011 6:55 PM EDT up reply actions

While its more realistic, there’s too much uncertainty around the East this year to guarantee a playoff birth. There might be three teams, even if things go bad, can still make the playoffs? Was, Pit, and maybe Bos? MAYBE. Injuries for one can derail the Panthers. If they lose two centers for any length of time, they’re gonna have a difficult time compensating.

The Panthers are gonna need EVERYONE firing off at peak performance to be a serious contender this season. And that’s not hating. Its looking at things realistically. This is a team with a lot of 15-20 goal guys, and every one needs to perform at that level, or higher, to make the playoffs. If this season tanks because of injuries, or these guys don’t develop the expected chemistry, I’m gonna hate to see how people bag on this team. There’s a lot of potential, not for this season, but two or three down the road.
