Report: Bradley opens up on ex-teammate Semin, Caps
From the Washington Post's Capitals Insider, Florida free agent-signee Matt Bradley evidently had quite a candid radio interview on Wednesday, covering a variety of topics, the most fascinating of which gives plenty of artillery to those who have for years singled out Alexander Semin as a floater who "just doesn't care". Yowza.
The 33 year-old forward goes on to comment about Bruce Boudreau ("If you want to win, sometimes you have to sit some of those [highly paid, underachieving] guys down and maybe try to send a message"), Alex Ovechkin ("I never worry about Ovi"), his former club's failure to dent the Lightning ("I think our locker room was maybe a little bit too nonchalant"), and a few other concerns.
Carrying the respected dressing room leader tag he has long worn, his words can't easily be dismissed, and are a refreshing break from the standard NHLer's tired "we've got to play 60 minutes" refrain. It's a shame this guy didn't get to witness ten minutes of Rusty Olesz's gig. Or better yet, Nathan Horton.

He's a great interview
Matt Bradley is very often interviewed on Sports Radio in Ottawa, and he is wonderfully candid. He’d make a great hockey analyst when his career is over as he doesn’t pull any punches.
Yup, I’d like to hear his opinion of his teammates down the run
Note: He’s the guy supposed to ‘bring it all together’

Caps aren't so complicated
The Caps aren’t that hard a team to figure out. Two years ago they were all out “shoot-em out” offence. That worked well in the regular season… as usual, not so much in the playoffs.
So Boudreau decided to have them play defence and they didn’t have the personnel to carry out that plan either. Offensive guys like to play what they are built for and get paid handsomely for it. When they play defence reluctantly, the offence suffers.
Heatley is a prime example of that. He loved to stand in the slot and redirect Spezza’s passes. Backchecking he didn’t like so much. And playing in SJ the other guys wanted to be the scorers too… whereas Spezza was willing to feed him all day long.
Teams need a mix of players so that when the defensive game comes to the forefront in the playoffs, they can win that kind of game consistently. Good luck doing that with Ovetchkin and Semin leading the way. They should have moved Semin for a first round pick and a shut down defenseman.
Umm, guys...
“Respected dressing room leader” Matt Bradley certainly was not. As a Caps season ticket holder every year Brads was with us, I can affirm that after he slayed Lunquivst 3 years ago he became a fan favorite. Before that he wasn’t even on the map.
“Mr. Offense” is also known for being a funny guy and is both equally humble and hilarious in person. However, he doesn’t have a locker room voice and is only good for 5-10 goals in any given season. He WILL work his tail off for those goals, which sets a good example, but he never wore an ‘A’ and you’ll never see a ‘C’ on his chest either.
In Paperface you’re getting a respected, hard-working, blue collar, forth line Winger who is a borderline enforcer. I hope you don’t delude yourself into thinking he’s more than that.

Sounds like exactly what we need. Even if he isn’t a respected locker room leader, he’s probably more of a leader than most of last years team.
