My first hand observations
- Markstrom played like a pro. I’m not gonna hold the screened goal against him nor the other goal where the entire lightning team was having dinner in the crease. Very impressive, would love to see him in October.
- Gudbranson led the rest of the team from the blue line whenever he was on the ice. His checks were felt throughout the rink and he drew countless cheers whenever he was on the ice. After his fight with a Tampa Bar rookie, the crowd exploded into a “Let’s Go Panthers” chant that I wish I could hear at the BAC. The Panthers rookies on the bench kept looking back at the crowd in awe during the chant. Guds NEEDS to make the team, if anything to inject some life into the crowd every night. Love this kid. 3rd Star of the Game
- Huberdeau showed some vision and stick handling on the ice. Looked very good. Scored a beauty as well. 1st Star of the Game. Needs a look at training camp.
- Hazen undressed a defender twice by pushing the puck through his skates as he drove to the net. Looked very very good. Needs a look at training camp.
- McFarland had a beautiful shortie. Great work ethic. Needs a look.
- Timmens looked much stronger and ready to compete than we saw him last season. Had a rebound goal in the first. 2nd star.
