Setting aside the improbable return of Sergei Samsonov, this is a pretty slick opener for the Cats in EA's latest entry in the NHL series. Video courtesy of FanOfTheChops via YouTube. Local reviews of the game are in abundance here.
And really...who in sports marketing history ever designed a finer pair of sweaters than the Chops?

Love the Thrashers logo up in the rafters along with the Winnipeg Jets NHL white sweaters. Must be their alternate lol.

So should I make the joke about a full BAC for a game against Winnipeg? Or is that too easy….
Maybe it’s a Saturday night game in April with our boys playing to clinch a playoff spot… (although I’m not sure that would be a packed house either…)
But seriously, can’t we replace that scoreboard yet? It was outdated when the building opened…
I was going to make a joke about Thorne and Clement on the call. Been a looong while since we’ve had national coverage more than the token game per year on Vs.
(just getting ready to buy tickets for the home opener… woohoo! Ticketmaster fees: boohoo!)

Are red jerseys look horrible in this game it seems like they just didn’t care. The numbers are super small and stephen Weiss still has a strip on the back of his head. Really disappointed "/ but oh well GO CATS!

They do look a little off. The red leans more to pink than red, and the numbers are off a bit.

Hey, it’s the Panthers. Do you think they are going to waste their time making sure they get more than one or two things right for Florida, or are they going to spend the majority of their time working on Crosby’s cyberface?? Even the generic faces for many of Florida’s players are not in the same arena as what they really look like.
I think they should just have a dedicated team of programmers for each team, working on team-specific details. That would be awesome. Unfortunately, that would cost more money, and I’m sure they don’t want to waste any more money on the NHL series than they already do. It’s like this series is the redheaded stepchild of EA Sports.
With the NHL 2K series on hiatus it’s the only game in town. Meaning EA has little incentive to make sweeping changes until 2K comes back, someone else throws their hat into the ring, or a new generation of systems heads out. I mean look at the Madden series. Minor tweaks and one major feature they try to tout a year but no competition due to the exclusivity deal they have and you have what we have today. Or the worst case scenario which was the MLB 2K exclusivity which was a lose-lose for the publisher and consumers.

Btw, seems like they are the same for every team just watched the Lightning and Bruins ones and they are identical, just change up the arena, logos and a few other things.
Florida Panthers, Good Hockey, Great Sponsors!! Panthers STH since 1994 and Lightning STH since 2011.
Edmonton and San Jose’s are different in the game. The Oilers come out underneath the oil rig and the sharks come out through the sharks mouth. I just can’t understand why the Panthers every stopped the Panther head in front of the bench thing… I miss it.
That thing still hanging from the rafters? Hadn’t noticed it in a LONG time…

It’s actually not up in the rafters, it’s in front of Pantherland (or the gift shop for the layman) in the front entrance of the arena.

It would be my nightmare if they steal chelsea dagger from chicago.. Sure I love Kane and Chicago but at the same time thats just something that needs to stick there and there only.. But at the same time knowing how popular it is I cant help but to think Yormark will try to jump in on it..

I agree. I LOVE the song as a goal song and envy Chicago for having it, but that doesn’t mean I’d like the Panthers to flat out copy it.
I want our own version of Chelsea Dagger. Something that just works and fits really well. If it’s anything hispanic or Miami Vice-ish, I’m going to cry.
