Why last night rocked:

  • Jets kneel before Sharks in 2-0 San Jose victory from the 'Peg
  • CAR over TB, 5-2; Canes within a point of Bolts for 13th overall

Why last night jonesed:

  • OTW over NYR, 3-0; Rags' 6-gmae win streakk now kaput thanks to club widely predicted to dine from the toilet throughout 2011-12
  • PHI over NYI, 3-2, (REG); Isles' Tavares nets 15th of year, All-Star now has 40 points in 41 games
  • BOS over MTL, 2-1 (REG); suddenly-former-Hab Cammalleri: no points in 9:02 TOI before trade yank

Playoff Update:

Why tonight is a Big Deal in SoFla (beyond the obvious):

  • TB at WSH, 7 p.m.
  • TOR at BUF, 7:30

Next up for the Cats:

Florida hosts a Letangless Pens squad this evening; word on the street says they're missing a few other bodies as well. As for the entertainment, you might recognize this song as performed by Jefferson Airplane, in a little rockumentary called "Gimme Shelter," about the Rolling Stones and their nightmare at Altamont. That night the Oakland chapter of the Hell's Angels had their way. Tonight, it's the LBC Game Thread’s turn; 7 p.m.

Did you know:

Think you've stressed enough lately due to one of WPG or WSH playing every night since Monday? Ain't over yet, kids: won't be a reprieve until Wednesday. The 24th.

On the table:

Our network pals at PensBurgh have the other side of the aisle...do check in with the Pensblog as well...TSN's McKenzie on Thursday's Cammalleri craziness...fabulous story on Crosby's status from TribLive...keep an eye/ear open for news surrounding Theodore's status today...good luck with all this, Terry...ESPN's LeBrun with trade talk...Spector looks at PIT's injury status...finally, two words: More. Sens.

I don’t think I’ve ever heard of a player being traded during a game. Before or after, sure, but not during. The best tweet I’ve seen on it so far is:
Down Goes Brown @DownGoesBrown
It’s going to be so much fun in Montreal when the Flames trade Cammalleri to a contender at the deadline for twice as much.

by jimmyh71 on Jan 13, 2012 10:21 AM EST reply actions

a good tweet but pretty inaccurate imo. Montreal got fair value for Cammy. See my post in the Thursday Caterwaul.

if Calgary flips him for a better return than good for them.

Glad I’m not the only one. I didn’t like the movie much though the casting was perfect. One of the few movies I remember seeing a production mistake in, too (Kirk’s random phaser when aboard Nero’s ship)

I’d like a nice winning streak to legitimately get back into the top three, instead of (technically) being tied for 5th. Seeing the #s 4 and 5 team with more points than we have is not very comforting. It is also not comforting to see that we have the least amount of wins of the playoff teams – I know we have the most OTLs, which basically translates to 4 more wins, but I’d still like to see the number in the first column beefed up some.

I really don’t think I will feel better until we have a comfortable lead on the bottom half of the Eastern Conference, like the Rangers, Bruins, and Flyers. We’re still too close to being out of the playoffs that a 4 or 5 game losing streak can bring us right back to the last decade. But with the roster getting closer and closer to being whole again, that will hopefully no longer be a problem, and we will steadily climb up the EC standing.

by Kellner21 on Jan 13, 2012 11:02 AM EST reply actions

I am still of the opinion that the unless the Panthers win the division they are going to be tooth and nail to actually make the playoffs. At some point they need to reel off a nice winning streak which is something they have had trouble doing so far this season. Another month like they had in November would go a long way too.

Couple of Q's for Monday's game, (My first live Panthers game)

1) What time should I get to BAC for a 7:30 start?
2) Any food/beverage (under 21) suggestions?
3) If I do buy a jersey there who’s do I get? I’m thinking Flash, Versteeg, or Campbell.

1) If you would like to see warmups, try to get there around 6:45. If not, get there by 7:20 so you can catch the pre-game intro.

2) Everything is mega expensive…I suggest you eat beforehand. Here are a few examples: 7 dollars for a hot chocolate and 9 for a waffle at a stand in the Lobby.

3) Completely up to you. :)

There is no shortage of food around the BAC. With Sawgrass Mills across the street you have: Cheesecake Factory, Grand Lux Cafe, Johnny Rockets, 2 food courts and then there’s a bunch of other options around the mall like every chain restaurant in existence basically. All for less than food at the BAC.
