About time.
Watching the Hawks game made me want to review the Frolik/Skille trade since it’s been almost a year. Here are this season’s stats:
Skille: 31 Games, 2 Goals, 4 Assists, 6 Points, +/- 8, 22 PIMs. -6, 14 PIMs.
Frolik: 44 Games, 5 Goals, 8 Assists, 13 Points, +/
Aside from giving up Alex Salak, I think we won the trade, especially when thinking we also got David Pacan.

They’ve had review sheets passed out to them, so all they can do is ask questions, and it’s generally accepted that alot of Grade 10-12 students won’t show up the day before exams start anyway, so yeah, just running out the clock tomorrow. hahaha

Squirt 8,9,10 years old, I got a response from three others, so four dads and four kids driving up and back next week. We have a game in lake worth Saturday afternoon, so can’t make a weekend out of it

To make things worse, I bought the NHL Online package, which of course blacks me out because I’m in Florida.
This is the same crap that happens if you’re in San Diego (where I moved from) trying to watch an Anaheim game – they’re blacked out online, but Anaheim games aren’t picked up on any SD channels.

Call them. I had the game center thing and I could see every game except the panthers (so I returned it). I don’t know if they black you out by home address or by ip, bu it’s worth a shot to call and ask.

Glad to hear they refunded you – at least they’ve got some sense regarding their blackout rules.
Actually, in the interests of full disclosure, I happen to be an Avs fan living in Orlando (doing a bit of traveling around the country, actually). The online package has been great for me, except for these bizarre twilight zones of Blackout rules where you’re in a place that doesn’t get the game, but you’re still blacked out. Anyway, thanks for the comments!

It’s by IP. I had a problem with one range of IPs from AT&T. I couldn’t see any game if I had any IP that started with 184, but I was ok with all the others. Except the Panthers games, of course, which is why we have satellite now.

Howe was involved in one of the more memorable injuries in NHL history. He slid into the pointed metal center of the net and cut a five inch gash in his upper thigh. He was essentially impaled by the metal, and the injury, which nearly ended his career, prompted the NHL to change the design of its nets so that there would no longer be a center portion that jutted up toward the goal line. He lost 35 pounds and his stamina suffered after requiring liquid diet to avoid intestinal infections.

Looking back, yea. But at the time it was just a fluke loss early in the year. Things are starting to get tight now and they look like a team that hasn’t been in pressure situations before. Probably because (as a team) they haven’t. No one’s stepping up. A roster with this many Cup rings on it, someone has to be there to take control. The worst team in OT\Shootouts in the league. I think 10 points lost now? We even turn half those around, that’s the difference between 6th and 9th. I just don’t see it getting better.
That guy may be playing in the NCAA or in juniors right now. Too bad we can’t go forward in time and bring him in now

We “should” have guys here now. Campbell has been there before, and he’s really the only one who’s acting like it. God knows where Versteeg’s head is at. Flash looks like he’s going to start crying and curl up in a ball when the puck is on his stick. All that great stuff we were doing in the beginning of the year, you know, “working”, it’s gone. It’s all individuals out there now. If Weiss picks his head up for half a second on that 3 on 1, he sees Flash cocked and ready to put the return pass into an empty net. Instead, he buries his head and tries to just force it through Giguere. The difference in what’s going on the ice these last two weeks from what we saw in November is disturbing.
Yep and this team settling for just a point will net 88 points by the end of the season. Will that get us into the playoffs barring a massive collapse by everyone else?

Not a goalie problem. It’s a finishing problem. Same problem as last season. Lots of chances, but no conversions.

If we could just get our confidence back, and I am not just talking about line 1, than we could turn this thing around. Right now it feels like this team is playing while looking over their shoulders. The lack of confidence is causing the lack of finishing. Maybe shaking up the line up more than just a slight shuffle will make things go different. Maybe just the injection of the healthy players. Who knows?

Does anyone really watch the NBA before the conference finals? Why would you? Oklahoma City vs LA. Miami vs Chicago. Why does anyone else even bother?
Better than the crap the Panthers laid on the ice tonight amirite? And the Heat are the most stellar sports team in South Florida for the past decade. They put out a competitive product year in and year out for the most part. The Panthers aren’t there yet. That’s why I watch.

lol, ok ok. To be honest, I haven’t watched a full NBA game in my life. I just can’t get stand the sport, mostly because there’s the 4 or 5 teams who have the one or two players that make a difference, and then 25 teams who are along for the ride. That and it’s late and I’m in a pissy mood, so I decided the NBA will endure my rage. That and my Leinenkugel Winter Sampler.
Sheesh might as well have handed another Cup to Colorado after this loss you know

First time poster, long time follower...
This team literally makes me wanna pull my hair out!! Time after time, I know that when we go into overtime, we will blow it. And as for tonight, it was no different! There is no excuses for a blown 3-1 lead! We are supposed to have character guys on this team that will lead us in these clutch positions. But all I’ve seen throughout this last month is a buncha quitters and hosers.
I don’t like to pick on individuals, as it is a team effort, but somebody needs to smack a passing game into Fleischmann (to angry to even care about spelling)! Too many times tonight I saw him “passing” the puck at his teammates’ skates or darting it miles ahead of them. He is making very poor decisions out there and that early season scoring touch seems like a thing of the past. With all this talk of Versteeg being benched or playing sloppy, I think this guy may need the finger pointed at him a little more.
And while I like Kopecky, he has to stop the trademark Booth move – you know – skating up the left side and then taking a half-@$$ed shot so far out that is always read perfectly by opposing goalies. Saw that numerous times tonight with the same lousy results. I guess I could go on and pick something negative about any player right now, so I’ll stop.
This team is not a bad team. They have shown us the desire and passion to win before, so we know it’s there. But we are always mired by the same problems. We tend to have all the playmaking in the world, but when it comes to finishers, that’s where we truly suffer. Nobody can put the puck in the net without a perfect setup or a lucky bounce. There are no natural goal scorers on this team, and that’s an issue that has NOT been addressed since the departure of Pavel Bure (come on Huby!!!!)
I hate to say it (cuz I would like Santo to be traded, although his latest effort is making him a bit more marketable) but the Santorelli, Barch, and Bradley line is the most exciting and gutsy line on this team right now. Barch, IMO, has been a great pickup with awesome energy and has shown a few flashy moves here and there. They actually fight hard, and create some good opportunities. All of the team needs to take note and follow freakin suit!
This has been a painful last few weeks for us Panther fans. And unfortunately, it seems this team is taking the route of the Panthers of the last decade. Here’s hoping the return of Skille, Bergenheim, and Upshall will infuse a spark. Either that, or Big Boss Tallon may need to make a hefty move. Cuz if not, we are all looking at a postseason from the outside once again.
The name is Chris by the way, and I’m a long time Panther fan living in San Diego. Sorry to have my first post be this giant conundrum of negativity. But just like you all, I’m hitting wit’s end (always happens a couple of times per season with this team, hah). It’s been a pleasure watching you all post over the years. Glad I could finally join you. Here’s to a better stretch of games and maybe some offensive breakout wins instead of nail biters and dream crushers. Gnight folks.
