The thing that I never understand is why they schedule the WC for noon, I mean there might be some residual cold spots from the morning, but by the third period the temp for the day is at its highest. It seemed like the only reason to have it at noon was because it was on New Years Day and there was nothing to do. But here we on Jan 2nd with a pushed back start time.
The only way they can have it in Denver without ice issues is if they have a 4-5 pm start time when the sun goes down. 60 degrees in January isnt unusual for us, but it really cools down when the sun goes down.
(But the NHL would never do it anyways)

Quakers only existed for a year in 1930 or so

The Quakers played in the 30-31 season. They were the Pittsburgh Pirates before that from 1925-30. For those that don’t know their early NHL history there were 10 teams at one time before the Great Depression and WWII reduced to it to the so called “original six” which is historically inaccurate.

yep, last of the pre original six era teams to die. After WWII was over the NHL would not let them start up again despite agreeing to this when the franchise was suspended during the war. The Americans started life as the Hamilton Tigers and ended it as the Brooklyn Americans. The 30-31 was the last season of the ten team NHL as the Quakers folded. After a season as the St. Louis Eagles the original Ottawa Senators franchise folded in 1936 followed by the Montreal Maroons in 1938 and the Americans in 1942 getting us to the original six.
things were so bad for the NHL during the 30’s the Montreal Canadians almost moved to Cleveland of all places.

while he is still signing big ticket FA’s Sather has also been building a good and deep team kind of under the radar the last couple of years. The Rangers are damn good this season.
