brings back the question: do we keep Strachan for 6-8 weeks or do we give Robak, an AHL all star, a shot? Performance rewarded?
I’m wary of using these guys – regardless of potential – during the club’s most important second-half in, well, their history.

Robak deserves a shot in the NHL, unless the team wants to sign a veteran defensemen to take his place.

I’d agree with you, but I think given the amount of offense our blueline has chipped in, I think you’ve got to consider it. The only other option is to see what’s available around the NHL in terms of manageable contracts. You know Tallon isn’t going to trade for someone he has to pay past this season.
This just makes it that much stupider (not a word, I know) that Jovo broke his hand in a fight. Now we’re down two NHL guys for two months.
Anyway, what happens down the road likely depends on how fast Kulikov heals. According to the timelines they’ve given, Jovo is due back about a week after the trade deadline and Kuli from right after to two weeks after. My guess is they’ll send Strachan back to San Antonio for the break to play their games then call him back up for next week’s games.
After that, though, we may see a trade, but it might just be a minor league deal. The Rampage are sitting in eighth right now, so they’re not going to want to pull anyone out for too long, and the Panthers’ schedule gets pretty busy after this week, so they’re not going to be able to shuttle guys back to SA for games.

There's always
Wade Redden! Just joking. Not good news at all. I personally would give Robak a chance before acting on a trade. Glad that Ellerby is fresh as he’s going to have to step it up quite a bit with the veterans.
A lil thunder and a lil lightning is what the Cats are going to bring this year.
Whoever plays a better defensive game should play with the big club. A transaction at this point isn’t necessary to replace Kuli’s offense, but to improve the defensive stature of the team(the real problem at this point)
I’m putting here for reflection later on in the season…. #14 Tomas [Fleischmann] is getting a 40G season. FLASH COUNT: 15G/19A

The Florida Panthers have become Chicago's retirement home. This is oddly fitting.
Die hard fan eh?

No, that’s me. I have a signed McCabe sweater hanging up in my office/music room.

Wow, I don’t know if the training staff will be able to afford stocking Geritol for him.
Hockey is a business, only we fans love it as a game.
He’s only a year older than Jovo. And considerably younger than Jassen Cullimore was those three seasons he played here.

not to mention he would be a reliable, responsible defensive presence, and help get us to be a bit more physical! i always loved mccabe

Tallon should sign him. Hard to imagine the Cats in the middle of a playoff run while depending on an AHL defensemen. Just sign McCabe to a 2-way and then have him finish out the year either with the team or in San Antonio. It could also solve our Captain problem, but would also give us an even bigger Defense roster spot problem. Too many ways to go on this.

Alterego. And i’m completely down with a Caber return. Better offense than Jovo (presumably).

Only question is what would the defensive situation look like with Kuli, Jovo back in the lineup. Who sits, who goes, who plays???
