Tuesday Caterwaul: Panthers Open Forum
Panthers winger Matt Bradley has, um, "capitalized" on increased ice time tossed his way during a difficult stretch of injuries throughout the Florida roster, collecting 1 goal and 2 assists over the past five contests (2-2-1). Despite a minus-two, the feisty forward has 20 hits in that span.

Why last night rocked:
- NYR over PHI, 3-2 (REG); depending upon your loyalties, of course, the final score was a good thing/bad thing for FLA, though it's awfully hard to argue against the "regulation" aspect
Why last night jonesed:
- OTW over NJ, 3-2 (OT); forgetting we wanted both of these clubs to magically finish without a point, Jersey blew a 2-goal lead as the Sens and Daniel Alfredsson dragged it to an evil extra frame. Bang: 3 points awarded.
Why tonight is a Big Deal in SoFla:
- CGY at WSH, 7 p.m.; Good news: Flames are 11-2-2 against the Caps. Bad news: that record ran from November, 1974 through December of '77.
- TB at TOR, 7; after having the four-game table run against them a year ago, the Leafs took this season's only meeting so far, 7-1. At the Bay.
- NYI at CAR, 7; Canes are 5-1 at home vs the Isles since 2008-09.
- EDM at BUF, 7; Sabres victorious in last 2 at Buffalo against the Oil.
Next up for the Cats:
Thursday vs NYR. LBC Game Thread at 6:30.
Did you know:
FLA is 4-2 in games immediately following January 1st since the NHL lockout of 2004-05.
This just in:
Center Mark Cullen has been returned to AHL San Antonio, making room for...Samuelsson? Goc?

Since Cullen is OUT, and perhaps Goc is IN, that leaves Tallon with the question of what to do with Santorelli, if anything. He’s sort of the odd man right now, who could be replaced by Madden.

Santorelli’s on a one-way, at $1.6M per through next season (CapGeek). Something to keep in mind, but find it hard to believe they’d continue using him with the big club if a “better” alternative exists.

We dont know if Barch will be suspended either. If hes gone for more than a game I suspect Tallon will sign Madden

Florida blowing too many opportunities to widen their lead and catch up on the leaders. I am hoping this streak of playing .500 hockey ends, and a real winning streak starts this week. It’d be nice to rip off a nice win streak heading into the ASB, and actually hold (at least) 3rd place in the East, and not just because we are leading the Division.
Barch hearing scheduled for 3 pm per Harvey.

Maybe maybe not. They don’t play till Thursday so maybe the NHL wants an extra day to make rsue they have all the info they can get.

It can’t possibly be that difficult to ask the Official who made the claim that the slur was used to give his input and the comment made.. since he appears to be the only one who heard something said, and then interview Barch. Its not Like Subban heard something said and is demanding Barch’s head.
I hereby predict Captain Mike Weaver #43 will score 6G 20A -RCR 0G9A 12/6

I wonder why this delay was so last minute, the team has to have known they were flying out at 2:00 for weeks now. Why didn’t they mention that to Colin Campbell when he announced the 3:00 hearing time?

The league doesn’t know/care about the Panthers’ travel plans, I bet. I’m really up in the air on this one and to tell the truth I care more about the players that might be coming back than about Barch’s disposition. I hope what he said was inocuous and misunderstood.
They’re going to new york anyway, fwiw.

Naturally the league wouldn’t care about travel plans but I’m sure Dale could have called and let them know that they’d be in NY (as Donny mentioned) the next day. At the very least he could have let them know that Barch wouldn’t be available for a 1500 conference call. I suppose since the Panthers don’t play for a few days there was no real sense of urgency, I just found it curious.

Spencer – aren’t they practicing in Coral Springs tomorrow before departing? Thought that was the plan.

Ducks get LW Luca Caputi from Toronto for LW Nicolas Deschamps. Another Murray-Burke transaction. Swap of disappointing prospects.

Theodore out for two weeks or more, according to the twitterverse.
Now, should Clem or Alien get the start at MSG?
Depends on how the Rampage use him. They have back-to-back games starting tonight. Markstrom’s gonna play tonight. If they play him tomorrow, then I would expect Clem to start against the Rangers, because then Markstrom would be playing in three straight days/games. If he gets recalled tomorrow, then I would love to see Swede vs. Swede.
- Go Panthers -
We’ve just been discussing this over at Japers
Feel free to come over and lend your insights.
Suspect that Clemmensen gets the start against NYR, that Markstrom plays tonight but not tomorrow, and that Dineen takes it on a game by game basis from there, if you want my guess.
Patron saint of quality footwear.
Thx, FD :)

I think will be the best bet against the Rags. I think after last time out against them he should be wanting some vengeance.
A lil thunder and a lil lightning is what the Cats are going to bring this year.

I would think Clemmer would want the start and a little payback as well :-) vs the Rags

BTW…@RenHockey has been wrong on a few subjects of interest to FLA in the past. Not running with this until someone from the club makes it official through the usual outlets.
