Florida forward is a big part of the pesky defensive effort that helped Adler stun Team Canada in overtime.

Florida Panthers center Marcel Goc did not register a point or a shot on goal but held his own defensively against a pretty loaded Team Canada roster as Adler Mannheim registered a surprising 2-1 win in overtime. Goc was on Adler's top line with Jason Pominville and Nick Bonino. Bonino was filling in for Jochen Hecht who did not play in the game. Goc won 9 of the 20 draws he took and finished the tilt with an even rating.

Pominville beat Jonathan Bernier on a breakaway three minutes into overtime to give the Eagles the win and a better chance of winning the group and advancing straight to the semifinals in the six-team holiday tournament.

Adler defenseman Steve Wagner set up the game-winning goal. It was his second helper of the night.

Adam Mitchell put Adler ahead 1-0 with a power play tally at the 15:54 mark of the first period with assists going to Wagner and Craig MacDonald.

Mannheim goaltender Dennis Endras blunted Canada's attack until he was beaten by Tyler Seguin with 9:30 remaining in regulation time. Patrice Bergeron and Byron Ritchie collected assists on the power play goal.

Endras made 34 saves to post the win for Adler. He stopped Bergeron on a breakaway right before Pominville netted the deciding goal.

Team Canada will face host club HC Davos on Thursday while Mannheim gets a day off before meeting Davos on Friday to complete group stage play.
