Florida forward signs on with Austrian champs EHC LIWEST Black Wings Linz.
Tired of waiting for the NHL to resume play, Florida Panthers forward Shawn Matthias has joined Austria's EHC LIWEST Black Wings Linz.
Founded in 1992, Black Wings Linz is a member of the Erste Bank Eishockey Liga which is the top league in Austria and also includes teams from Slovenia, Hungary, Croatia and the Czech Republic.
So far this season, Linz has amassed 35 points in 27 games which is good for third in the league standings behind the Vienna Capitals and Medvescak Zagreb.
Last season Linz defeated EC KAC in five games to capture the league crown.
Black Wings Linz next game is Friday on the road against fifth place SAPA Fehérvár AV19.
