Sunday Caterwaul: Panthers GameDay Open Forum
Florida F Mike Santorelli has 1G/1A with 9 SOG in 3 career games against the Anaheim Ducks, but enters tonight's match with a rather dreadful 3G and minus-5 in 25 games from Sunrise in 2011-12.

Why last night rocked:
- TB over WSH, 2-1 (REG); Stammer hits third 40-goal season. Gee Caps, only 24 SOG this time?
- VAN over TOR, 6-2; 'Nucks now 10-for-10 vs Leafs, who are 1-5 over past six
Why last night jonesed:
- Any evening which featured a double-header of Animal House & The Blues Brothers - combined with a Washington loss - can only be summarized as anything but a jones.
Panthers Playoff Update:
- FLA did not play; playoff odds up 6.9 to 79.6% per Sports Club Stats
Why tonight is a Big Deal in SoFla, beyond the obvious:
Teams FLA needs to lose in bold…
- NJ (70P) at MTL, 6 p.m.; Devils have won past two vs Habs, games ended in identical 5-3 results. Victory for Canadiens effectively places them back into realistic-shot territory.
- COL at WPG (62P), 8:30 p.m.; Avs are 1-3-1 on road in last five while Jets are 3-1-1 at home in same span. Whatever: Go Avalanche.
Next up for the Cats:
- Hosting Anaheim tonight in an early start; LBC Game Thread gets labeled a sockdologizing old man-trap at 5:30. Check out our buds at Battle Of California and Anaheim Calling for the left-coast view.
Did you know:
- Ducks are 4-1 vs Florida since 2005-06. Corey Perry has 7 points (4G) in five career games vs Cats
Saturday’s Organizational News:
- D Nolan Yonkman recalled from San Antonio (will wear #34); D Colby Robak reassigned
Saturday’s NHL Transactions:
- To PHI: D Pavel Kubina
- To TB: F Jon Kalinski, 2nd rd pick (originally Florida's and conditional), 4th rd pick

Time for the real Panthers to show up tonight. The Caps seem to be giftwrapping them the division if they want it.

Thanks again to the Lightning for keeping it in regulation…

Who's ready for Hockey Day In America?
Let’s do this!
Oddly, I don’t care much about results outside of the Panthers game. The Flyers, Leafs, Caps, Lightning played yesterday and the Sens play tomorrow.

Side note: Last night’s win puts TB six points out of 8th with a game in hand. It’s not unthinkable even though they’ve started the sell-off. I’l still take their win over Washington as a Good Thing.
Panthers need to beat the Ducks tonight. This is the first of four games remaining until the trade deadline.
Plus the Caps play the Canes tomorrow.

Isles haven’t been snuffed out yet either, and both have games-in-hand on TOR and OTW

Of course, they need 16 wins in 24 games for a real shot at making it.

Is Mike Weaver sitting tonight?
He’s listed as “other (excused)” on the SB Nation NHL Injury widget.

Not as far as I know. The only lineup change mentioned in the last two days was the Yonkman for Robak swap. If so, they’re going to be short because they only have 20 uninjured players on the roster right now.

Nothing on my radar either. A hiccup, probably. Otherwise we’d be looking at a recall.

Someone might have jumped the gun. Somewhere I read he had a few stitches in the lip but that was all.
I’m putting here for reflection later on in the season…. #14 Tomas [Fleischmann] is getting a 40G season. FLASH COUNT: 19G/25A
