Hey all, have a terrible cold right now and had to teach a number of groups of Grade 9’s today about the Cold War, so yeah, I need’s me some good Hockey tonight. Saddened by the amount of students who didn’t know what the Soviet Union was or where it was…. argh!

hahaha Nope, even tried to make some Newfoundland connections to the Cold War, and there are surprisingly alot, but apparently they’ve never once met the Cold War in any of their classes up to this point.

Well I tried to tell them that the United States Navy and Air Force had ALOT of Nuclear weapons based in a number of sites in Newfoundland and Labrador during the Cold War, hell, Goose Bay was used as a base because the area looked EXACTLY like the parts of Ukraine and Belarus they would have to bomb during a war.
Huh, well I probably didnt get a really good overview of the cold war until my history class in 11th. But I knew the good stuff from watching the history channel

Alain Vigneault has split the Sedins in practice, and potentially at the start of the Vancouver Canucks’ next game. Daniel Sedin was on Ryan Kesler’s wing, along with Alex Burrows and Henrik Sedin was lined with Byron Bitz and Mason Raymond.

The thing is we can’t keep hoping other teams manage to beat the rest of the division. We have to start winning games and do it for ourselves. Play like this doesn’t give me a whole lot of confidence.

I dont think you fully do. This happens every year, just later than usual this year…. and no, I am not close to giving up hope, but we have THREE, ONLY THREE forwards that can actually score and we are operating on a backup and an AHL backup.

Weiss going nowhere. As you said, they’ll be hesitant to deal any of the mainstays, so wait out a few contracts and go UFA in July. Not much else can be done.

I think we can all agree this may be the game that gets wheels in motion for…something. If Tallon REALLY wants to compete this year, he’s gotten the notice.

Doing that isn’t a measure of success or improvement. Beating what he did before doesn’t mean we’re “on track” so to speak, this team sucks now but there are huge injury problems in all areas along with a rookie coach and a bunch of guys with no chemistry.
I’m still confident this team is better than the way they’ve played over the last month, even if it doesnt reflect in the points total.

I heard he’s still living down here. I would think that he’d love to make a comeback, just hasn’t gotten an offer yet. He’d probably get back in shape if he had to. Remember last year he stated that he would only want to play for the Panthers.

Getslaf or Ryan would just be perfect. Tallon needs to start working the phones. Even Vermette from Colombus would help. Need to get someone. This is the year that they need to get into the playoffs. They would lose the faith of borderline sports fans if they collapse this year.

i’m in no way in favor of trading the high-end guys.
i know there has been a ton of trade deadline talk on here of late and i’ve refrained. this team needs to make the playoffs in my opinion. but they will not be a Cup contender in any way…
the guys coming down the lane are those that make the difference, we hope.
We’re all behind making the postseason, but bringing anyone of significance will require a “High-end” prospect in return. No news there.

why would there be a call? Ellerby needs to be a smarter player. He saw Ward coming. Ward barely hit him.

Far from a crush and he didn’t have to play the puck since the whistle blew a second after the slight check. Also, he didn’t have to spin himself around and make himself vulnerable. I’m actually all for players who put themselves in knowingly vulnerable positions, such as the one we saw, get penalties. Gotta play smart.
Can we get a cool banner when we make the playoffs?

Talk about amazing. Isles won in scoreless game, in the shootout 1-0, with only 17 shots on net. Nabby stole the show for them.

Come on DT and MS…. We need to make a move to shake things up just ONE…. Raymond, Whitney, Moulson, Kostitsyn, etc….. Drafts picks and mid range prospects for all…. (Maybe one or two roster players could be had) All the injuries except for Theodore are beyond the deadline, so no more waiting…. I say Steeger, Flash, Weiss, Goc, Bergie, Matthias, Campbell, Gudbranson, Kuli, Garrison all untouchable on the roster…. But if a team wants one or two of the others to give us some scoring I say do it….
Now off to drink LOTS of wine…. Lets bring down the Kings!
I so saw this coming and posted as such earlier today. We need some more players. We aren’t good enough. It’s not just one game- it’s a clear cut trend. Management needs to bring in some more players. Spend some f-ing money, damn it. Ten years is enough. We are finally two players away from making the playoffs. Doesn’t matter if we have little to offer-give up draft picks- or package a prospect or two with a fourth liner. We aren’t good enough yet without a few more of our second liners (Sturm and Upshall) or Dmitri- don’t kid yourself anymore. This is the time to fix it.. The Panthers are one of the rare teams who have better fans than the organization deserves- but how much suffering can the fans take. We’ve already broken records for futility. Even the Marlins spent some money on top talent and they have less fans than they deserve. This effort tonight was pathetic, but it was also a realistic barometer of where we are at. We can’t compete with the Caps with Ovechkin in the line-up. And the Caps are still missing a lot.
