This game was'nt even supposed to happen according to 15 out of 16 so called "experts". Well, guess what. it did, and the panther won it. Over 60 percent of the teams that win game five go on to win the series in the history of the nhl playoffs. You really have to say that the Panther's character was the deciding factor in this series thus far. The Devils, although they will never admit it, underestimated the Florida Panthers. Underestimating any team will set you up for disaster. The panthers have ignored and disproved all the negative comments and doubts that have come their way since day one of the regular season. Let's take a look at some of the predictions made for the panther's heading into the season: Sean Bergenheim is a fluke, the panthers will finish in last place, the new guys will never come together, Tallon is wasting his money. None of these were the case. In fact, they were far from it.
So, here we are at the conclusion at game five, the so called turning point of series. If the panther's go on to win this series, I think I speak for every panther fan when I say that even if they don't make it past the semifinals, this series was a success in any way you look at it. Just think about the future of this team. Not only do they have quality and hard working players like Kris Versteeg and Tomas Fleischmann here for several more years, but they have some of the most talented prospects in all of the national hockey league. Jonathan Huberdeau has the potential to be a superstar, and Jacob Markstrom is the Martin Brodeur of the next decade. In five years from now, this will be the bad team. To think of what this team can accomplish in the near future is unbelievable. So here's to a game six victory and possibly going all the way.
