Florida Panthers Complete Minor League Deal With Montreal Canadiens

Bruce Bennett

Defender Brendon Nash officially becomes Florida property while Jason DeSantis' quick stint with the organization ends.

The Florida Panthers and Montreal Canadiens made last week's reassignment of minor-league defensemen Brendon Nash to San Antonio and Jason DeSantis to Hamilton, permanent. The clubs announced on Monday that the two had been officially traded for each other.

Brendon Nash is now property of the Florida Panthers. Nash has already played in four games with the San Antonio Rampage where he has yet to collect any points. He had 8 points and a + 5 rating in 26 games with Hamilton before the recent reassignment. The 6-3, 210 lb blue liner is twenty-five years old and played four years of NCAA hockey at Cornell. He was originally signed by Montreal as an undrafted free agent on March 30, 2010. He appeared in 75 games for Hamilton during the 2010-11 season as well as two NHL games for the parent club but missed all of last season due to injury.

DeSantis was signed by the Panthers as a free agent on June 14, 2012 after an impressive 43 point season with the St. John's IceCaps of the AHL. DeSantis had picked up 9 points and posted a disappointing -7 rating in 28 games with San Antonio before being reassigned to the Bulldogs last week.
