The San Antonio Rampage only had one game this weekend and they made the most of it. The Rampage started the month of November off on the right foot by rallying past the Charlotte Checkers for a 5-3 win at the AT&T Center Saturday night in front of a crowd of 6,359.
After an exciting first period that ended with the teams tied at two, Charlotte took its third lead of the game in the second stanza on a goal from Matt Marquardt.
San Antonio exploded for three goals in the third frame to post the victory, running their record to 4-5 on the season. The Rampage out-shot the Checkers by a 21-8 margin during the final period.
Howden put the icing on the cake, scoring on a shorthanded breakaway at the 13:18 mark. Alex Petrovic picked up the lone assist on the goal.
Michael Houser made 24 saves to best Charlotte's Rick DiPietro and is now unbeaten in three starts this season.
Rookie Vincent Trocheck now has seven points in his last three games and is the club's leading scorer with 11 points.
The busy first period saw Charlotte take the early lead on a Justin Shugg goal 2:16 into the game. San Antonio tied things up just over two minutes later as Wilson scored with Jonathan Racine and Trocheck picking up the helpers.
The Checkers regained the lead courtesy of a Victor Rask tally before Joey Crabb evened things up again by one-timing home a power-play goal. Rallo and Robak combined to set up the man-advantage marker. It was Crabb's second goal of the campaign.
The Rampage head north of the border for two games on Tuesday and Wednesday against the Abbotsford Flames
