Department of Player Safety hands down ruling on player with total of 7:47 TOI in National Hockey League action

Snagged for leaving the bench - during his NHL debut, no less - Florida's Eric Selleck was Shanabanned Wednesday afternoon, receiving a two-game suspension for his actions against the Hurricanes' Kevin Westgarth on Tuesday evening. This ruling follows penalties handed out to Selleck during the actual sequence which included 5 minutes for fighting, 2 minutes for instigating, and 10 minutes for headbutting. All of which should go a long way in endearing himself to Panthers management for another go in the Bigs.

(Original title incorrectly stated a one-game suspension. Oops.)
