AHL: Marlies snap Rampage winning streak with 2-1 win

The Silver and Black's twelve-game point streak comes to end in Toronto.

There has only been one problem during the San Antonio Rampage's current ten-game road trip, the Toronto Marlies. The Rampage started off the February-long trek with a 5-4 shootout defeat at Ricoh Coliseum before reeling off six straight wins. San Antonio returned to Toronto yesterday and fell to the Marlies again, this time 2-1 in regulation.

The Marlies opened the scoring just 10 seconds into the game, when Tyler Biggs knocked a rebound by Rampage starter Michael Houser.

Jerry D'Amigo netted a breakaway goal ten minutes later to send Houser to the bench in favor of Jacob Markstrom. The Alien delivered, stopping all 23 shots he faced the rest of the way.

Marlies keeper Drew MacIntyre held the Silver and Black at bay until Bobby Butler scored from Drew Shore with 4:56 left in the game. The goal was Butler's sixteenth of the season.

Unfortunately, San Antonio couldn't come up with the equalizer, ending their run of twelve consecutive games with at least a point.

The Rampage power play was a failure again, going 0 for 5 on the day.

San Antonio (23-22-3-5) will play the Hamilton Bulldogs this afternoon to finish off a busy weekend. They will conclude the Rodeo Road Trip Wednesday night in Utica versus the Comets.
