Florida Panthers forward Drew Shore bagged his first goal of the tournament as Team USA finished the preliminary round with a wild 5-4 win over Germany. In addition to the goal, Shore logged 12:26 TOI, went 2/4 on draws, finished with an even rating, had two shots on goal, and took a hooking minor in the second period. Jimmy Hayes took three shots on goal and finished with an even rating in 10:44 TOI. Vincent Trocheck went 4/8 on face-offs, had one shot on goal, and finished with an even rating in 9:53 TOI. Calgary's Johnny Gaudreau scored a goal and added three assists for the Americans, who won their third straight game. Draft prospect Leon Draisaitl lit the lamp and set up two goals for the Germans. Canada 3, Norway 2 (Group A)
Jonathan Huberdeau set up Joel Ward's third period game-winner as Canada squeaked by pesky Norway 3-2. It was Ward's second goal and third point of the game. Huberdeau logged 17:33 TOI and finished the game with one shot on goal and an even rating. He has picked up a point in Canada's last five games. Defenseman Erik Gudbranson continued his steady play, logging 7:38 TOI, with one shot on goal and an even rating. Norway's Steffen Soberg made 40 saves to keep the contest close. After opening the tourney with a shootout loss to France, Canada reeled off six wins in a row to top Group A. They will take on Finland in the quarterfinal round.
