Florida Panthers Southeast Champs Wallpapers *IMPROVED*
I was holding off on creating these until everything was official. I wanted to make something that all the good people of Litter Box Cats could display with pride. I think this is as short and sweet as it needs to be. We are simply the 2012 Southeast Division Champions. I hope to make more of these things very soon. Download any of the sizes you need after the jump. (Made changes to make it more similar to the 96 EC Banner)
How far into the playoffs are you projecting the Panthers progression this season?
This question was posted a few weeks ago right after the five game winning streak. We've now qualified despite losing eight of nine, yet all things are possible in the playoffs.

The Jersey Name Dilemma
So over the course of yesterday (and going into today) there was big deal made at The Phinsider about the Miami Dolphins trading their top wide receiver. Not wanting to touch on that subject with a 39 ½ foot Victory Pole, I did read the fan comments and saw an interesting dilemma that arose for many of them. What are they to do with their Brandon Marshall jerseys now? It is a dilemma that thousands of fans in all sports face every year. Whether it is through trades or free agency there is a good chance that the name on the back of that jersey with your favorite player will not be on the same team when they reach the end of their career. In South Florida those players with longevity like Stephen Weiss, Dan Marino, Jeff Conine, and Alonzo Mourning are rarities. Maybe some fans will get lucky and get players who achieved something that no one on that team achieved before like Pavel Bure and his Rocket Richard seasons. Maybe they get a player who helps on the way to a championship like Pudge Rodriguez. Or you get a player who winds up staying for a long time. Some are not so lucky. Some fans have jersey name criteria or would rather leave them blank or customized to a non-player. Yet at some point you will get a player that leaves or worse, leave on bad terms that makes you want to burn that jersey. So what do the rest of you think, and if you have a story of heartache or joy behind the player name please share.
Florida Panthers: Leading The "Pack"
One month from today the NHL regular season will end. The Florida Panthers were on very few preseason lists to win the Southeast Division this season. In fact, most had them listed as fourth or fifth. Even with a month to go many think the Cats will still come off the tracks and miss out on the dance.
But here we are in March, and Florida is still leading the Southeast Division. The Panthers currently lead the hard charging Winnipeg Jets by two points, the fast fading Washington Capitals by four, the suddenly resurgent Tampa Bay Lightning by six and the last chance Carolina Hurricanes by ten. All this with games in hand on everyone in the division. Two on the Jets and one on the other three. According to www.sportsclubstats.com, the Panthers currently have an 83.3% chance to qualify for the playoffs. For success in the season's last month, a few things still have to happen for Florida.
Who will win the Southeast
I applied the percentage that each team has garnered points at home and on the road this season to the remaining games each team has left. I rounded up for projected points acquired in home games and down for road games

Poll: Leaving early during a Panthers loss
I recently saw statements from some Panthers fans in the aftermath of Wednesday's beatdown courtesy of the Ottawa Senators and how many had left the game early for various reasons. My reaction to this is that I can't blame them and would have followed suit if I was there. However, many other fans state that they stayed the entire sixty minutes no matter what and ostracize others for leaving early.
I have not as yet walked out on the Panthers. But I have walked out on my favorite team before, the Florida/Miami Marlins, usually out of pure disgust for their play or when facing a beatdown by the opposing team. Some may deem me a bad fan, even though I sat through the longest game in Marlins history (6 hours, 10 minutes) that wound up being a loss, so one can't assume that because people leave means they are lousy fans. They may be the most die hard supporters ever, so much so that it pains them to watch a horrendous showing and they just gotta get away.
So what have you, LBC crowd? Have you ever walked out on the Panthers or any other sports team? Love to hear the horror stories...
