"How Cool Is That?" Panthers' Santos Speaks For All As Rookie Tourney Approaches

Pre-season events becoming a draw in South Florida: Since the tournament was launched, fans have frequently filled the Coral Springs rink to its standing room limit, especially for Panthers rookie games. This year, the addition of the Bruins, a club with a high national profile, could juice the crowds even more. More from SI's Stu Hackel above.

Sun-Sentinel: Gomez Relishes "Mentor" Role

[Forward Scott] Gomez, who averaged 64 points in his first 10 seasons, including 59 points in his first season in Montreal, slipped to 38 points in 2010-11 and just 11 points in an injury-plagued 2011-12. He was lambasted in the hockey-crazed Canadian media and scorned by Habs' fans. Fortunately, Gomez heeded the advice of former teammate Joe Nieuwendyk and late Devils coach Pat Burns, who told him not to read his press clippings, good or bad. "They took my paper away and said one of these days you'll be playing some where you might want to jump off a bridge,'' smiled Gomez. - A bit more from Harvey on Gomez above.

Sun-Sentinel: Former Panthers owner Siegel, Americans triumph over Canada in Israel Tourney

[Stu] Siegel grew up playing street hockey in Long Island and played four years of club hockey at the University of Pennsylvania, so the opportunity to represent his country in Israel was too special to pass over. "Putting on that USA jersey was pretty cool,'' said Siegel, 50, a real estate technology pioneer who's also a defensive-minded center. "It was an awesome celebration carrying the U.S. flag around the ice.'' - More from Harvey above

FanShot: Cats' Prospect Robak tries a little acting

Panthers defensive prospect Colby Robak in a Nature's Sleep Formula commercial.

I didn't start off the way I wanted to. You can't hide under a pillow and you sure can't hide on the ice. You just have to grab the bull by the horns and work hard, make it work. Hard work does pay off. And we're playing very well. I'm happy for the opportunity.
