Weiss...This article fails to mention the NMC in his contract. Numbers from Yahoo: 1 goal, 3 assists, -9 No shots on net tonight - 2/21/13 Would Detroit really be interested? Makes more sense for Weiss to play out his contract in FLA and keep him around. If he continues to play like this, if the Panthers want to keep him, no problem and for less dough. I would rather have Weiss as my third line center than Goc next season.
[Joe] Basaraba’s hockey journey is different then most Canadian players that thrive in the Canadian junior leagues. After being drafted in the second round (22nd overall) by the Erie Otters in the 2008 OHL Priority Selection, the 16-year-old was not ready to be that far away from home. Instead, Basaraba was given an opportunity to play under Tom Ward at Shattuck-St. Mary’s. Ironically, Basaraba never returned to Canada to play hockey, choosing to stay in the state of Minnesota when he committed to UMD. More from HF's Justin Felisko above.
At 6’2", Matheson already possesses an NHL-sized body and shot that will become more evident as he continues to develop physically. Like many Boston College defensemen, both past and present, Matheson is an excellent skater who moves exceedingly well with the puck. One of the hardest lessons that he is still learning at Boston College is limiting his penalties. Matheson currently leads the team with 56 penalty minutes with most of those minutes being the result of either laziness or simply being too aggressive. More above from HF's DJ Powers.
Jacques Martin's final Entry Draft appearance with a Florida credential resulted in several very nice selections from Ottawa.
Injuries to many of the Panthers top players this season has allowed their young guns to either step in or see increased ice time, develop and play well.
If it's not available down in the US, maybe it's time to kit-bash an Arduino module and the requisite red light and other hardware, eh? Yeah, I'd probably need one in my office at work as well.
Yormark discusses the lockout and the effects it had on the Florida Panthers. Warning: if you're allergic to marketing jargon and buzzwords, please prepare your vomit bags.
