Florida's 141 goals-for ranks as 25th overall but 14th in the Eastern Conference, ahead of only the Islanders (136). In Sunrise, the Cats' 67 places them dead last in the EC, while somehow managing 9th on the road with 74.

"It would be nice to keep everyone here and not having to wholesale guys out or trade your buddies. If we can add a piece here or there without breaking up the group we have, without destroying the chemistry, that would be the best-case scenario."
- Panthers forward Stephen Weiss; more on Florida's options regarding the steadily approaching trade deadline via the Sun-Sentinel/Berardino.
Monday Caterwaul: Panthers Open Forum
Sunday's loss to Anaheim featured four power play chances for the Panthers, who were unable to convert on any of them. Such an "achievement" is far from new for this club: Florida has gone scoreless on the man-advantage in games with four or more such opportunities a staggering 14 times in 2011-12.

Florida F Mike Santorelli has 1G/1A with 9 SOG in 3 career games against the Anaheim Ducks, but enters tonight's match with a rather dreadful 3G and minus-5 in 25 games from Sunrise in 2011-12.

Friday Caterwaul: Panthers GameDay Open Forum
Tomas Vokoun has pitched a shutout in each of the last three Capitals/Panthers matchups in which he has played. In addition to his two shutouts against the Panthers for the Capitals this season, Vokoun also blanked the Capitals as a member of the Panthers on April 9, 2011 in his last game in a Florida sweater. The last time Vokoun played a game in Florida for a team other than the Panthers was with Nashville on Dec. 23, 2002, in a 3-2 win over the Panthers.

Thursday Caterwaul: Panthers Open Forum
On a night featuring a surplus of goals-against and minus-ratings infecting most of the roster, Florida's Shawn Matthias remained afloat during his 18 shifts, scoring once while collecting 2 SOG & 1 BkS, winning 8 of 12 faceoffs and closing the evening as the only Panther with a positive plus-minus (+1). He has 1G-3A, 1 hit, 2 BkS, 7 SOG and a plus-4 in his last four games.

Eight: that's the number of times Florida has collected more than one power play goal in a game, the last occasion coming way back on December 27 in a 5-3 victory over Toronto. Five days earlier the Panthers scored twice on the man advantage - and surrendered an equal amount - in an overtime loss to Ottawa, tonight's opponent.
