Philadelphia Daily News: Flyers targeting Bouwmeester

Bouwmeester sits atop Philadelphia's wish list, but signing him will require another body to move. The Flyers won't be alone in their pursuit of Bouwmeester, however, as the Vancouver Canucks, Montreal Canadiens, Toronto Maple Leafs, Colorado Avalanche and Los Angeles Kings are also interested. And once again, Joffrey Lupul's name is prominently dropped. Thanks, The Fourth Period.

Camden-Courier Post: Freighter-load of Philly assets for Anderson, Bouwmeester negotiating rights?

Sounds ridiculous but here's the speculation: The Flyers may try to package the likes of forwards Joffrey Lupul, Danny Briere and James van Riemsdyk, defenseman Ryan Parent and/or a first-round draft pick in a deal for the rights to Panthers' defenseman Jay Bouwmeester and Anderson. Just for the rights. That's a heckuva lot. Briere's a salary dump, and probably on his way out of town regardless (and we'll see how ironclad that NTC is). Lupul has been an integral piece of every Flyers rumor since the day he was acquired. Parent is expendable due to the (potential) addition of Bouw. Forward (and second overall pick in '07) van Riemsdyk - not to mention the draft pick - are the true gems. No matter what, there's always going to be a small but loud contingent declaring any deal a failure.

Toronto Sun: No Bouw movement

From Bruce "Malkin to the Kings" Garrioch: The Florida Panthers haven't made any progress in signing Jay Bouwmeester. There haven't been any discussions since the end of the season and the big soon-to-bee free-agent defenceman hasn't changed his plans to test the marketplace ... W4E say: No sources were cited here, and given Jacques Martin's notoriously guarded policy on leaking information, this is much do about nothing, unless Bouwmeester's agent Bryon Baltimore has been quietly spouting off.

Miami Herald: Panthers' roster issues need attention

From George Richards: When players leave the arena Monday after season-ending meetings, many won't return until training camp in September. And some, including All-Star defenseman Jay Bouwmeester, might not be back again -- unless they return with another team. GR brings up some real impending headaches for general manager Jacques Martin and his staff.

Another Bouwmeester Non-denial Denial

From the Sun-Sentinel: Q: What's the likelihood you return to the Panthers? "I don’t know. Down the stretch here, there’s been a lot on your mind. To be quite honest, it’s something I’m going to have to sit down and do some serious thinking about. For me to say one way or the other right now is not really fair." Think he's any good at poker?
