A bit of discontent between "Miami" teams and...the Panthers?
Includes a five-minute video of Yormark talking with Mike Ozanian about the Panthers and their financial state.
Via the Sun-Sentinel's Brittany Wallman: "In a letter from the company that owns the Florida Panthers, Sunrise Sports and Entertainment, President Michael Yormark told the county mayor and commissioners that he’d seek the loan to pay for improvements to the center ice seating section and the executive suites." More above...
From the club via Harvey/Sun-Sentinel: Potential projects for the multipurpose event center and home ice of the NHL’s Florida Panthers include the creation of state-of-the-art, all-inclusive premium seating locations, an inner bowl bar, suite-level opera boxes, digital signage opportunities and more. Really hope this includes a new scoreboard.
...and they're likely to be grouped into the next promotion. From the Official Site: The Panthers special ticket offers include complimentary tickets for fans celebrating birthdays, parents with newborns, newlyweds, senior citizens, active and veteran military, and recent college and high school graduates.
Cliff Viner, Michael Yormark, and GM Dale Tallon will be fielding questions from fans at 6pm in the BankAtlantic Center's "Everglades/Flamingo Room" prior to the Florida-Carolina game. A ticket for the match is all that's required for entry; registration is at 5:45. Any hot questions in mind?
From the Sun-Sentinel's Sarah Talalay: Sunrise Sports & Entertainment's Arena Operating Co., which operates the home of the Panthers, is seeking to cut its annual payments by $2.5 million annually through 2016, and then raise them by about $1 million a year starting in 2017. The restructuring is expected to cost $23 million more over the life of the loan, which would also be extended a year, and be paid by Sunrise Sports, not the county. More, and comments from president Michael Yormark, at the above link.
Panthers' president Michael Yormark: "BankAtlantic Center is proud to be the home of Jay-Z’s national tour launch and is looking forward to a spectacular performance that will set the bar for the tour." Solid marketing move featuring the man who brought us "What you eat don't make me s..t" and other flowery bromides.
From the official site: The press conference will take place following the Panthers morning skate ahead of their Monday night matchup with the Los Angeles Kings, and will feature Panthers ownership representatives, President & COO Michael Yormark, General Manager Randy Sexton, Head Coach Pete DeBoer and other VIPs. Shall we dust off the speculation once more...?
