Not going to read a lot into this.
From the Democrat and Chronicle: "He reminds me of Jay Bouwmeester," Amerks veteran winger Karl Stewart said of Ellerby. "He's such a smooth skater, and when he gets the puck from underneath the goal line and just starts to carry it, he can do whatever he wants with it." Words we've heard many times through the years in describing Jay. Make no mistake, it's not a comparison, just a similarity. I for one can't wait to see Ellerby in his second training camp; almost no way he doesn't make it to the big club. Now with a year of pro experience, he's a big man, a top-ten draft pick with serious talent, who's cheap. Gotta figure Boynton and Bouwmeester are out in any case.
It would appear the McLean Experiment is behind us. And who's leading the Kreps charge, eh? Thanks GR, Miami Herald
This is almost certainly insurance against Jassen Cullimore having to bolt early to be with his wife, who is reportedly very near to giving birth. Here, here!
From OurSportsCentral: Florida Panthers General Manager Jacques Martin announced today that defenseman Keaton Ellerby has been reassigned to the Rochester Americans (AHL). He was recalled for Florida's game in Atlanta Tuesday night but did not dress for the contest. No room at the Inn for Keaton. Somehow missed this one yesterday.
Officially, he's filling in for Jassen Cullimore (family leave). Still...
A little minor-league talk for a quiet Thursday afternoon.
Cory's back. Will he play? Not so much.
Rackin' up some serious mileage. Only makes sense with the Panthers' six-day layff.
