Panthers prospect Boyd to USHL Chicago

Very few details on this as yet, but Florida 2010 seventh-round selection R.J. Boyd - a Fort Myers native - has evidently left Sacred Heart University for the Chicago Steel of the USHL. The 19 year-old defenseman is no longer on Sacred Heart's roster after registering 4 points (1g) in 15 games with the Pioneers.

From the Herald Tribune's Chris Anderson: (R.J.) Boyd watched the draft at a restaurant in Fort Myers with his family. He received a phone call, turned to his family and smiled. Moments later his name was announced on the television. A kid from Florida had been drafted by an NHL team.
