Colorado Avalanche trade former Panthers goalie Craig Anderson to Ottawa

From the Ottawa Senators:

Ottawa Senators general manager Bryan Murray announced today the club has acquired goaltender Craig Anderson from the Colorado Avalanche for goaltender Brian Elliott.

The Senators have apparently given up on Elliott, sending him to Colorado for former Panthers netminder Anderson, and the Avalanche seem to have decided to stick with Peter Budaj as their starter, at least in the short term. I'm tempted to think it's an audition for all goaltenders involved. Budaj, Anderson and oft-injured Ottawa goalie Pascal Leclaire will both be unrestricted free agents, while Elliott will be an RFA at the end of the season.

This is a second chance for Anderson, who thrived in his first year as a starter for the Avalanche last season, but has struggled this year. He was signed as a starter by Colorado after posting terrific numbers backing up Panthers starter Tomas Vokoun for two seasons.
