2012 WJC Day Four: Panthers prospects fuel blowouts

Two games with three Florida Panthers prospects last night. All three prospects scored and helped their respective nations blowout their opponents.

Quinton Howden had a huge night scoring three points (1G/2A) helping Canada blowout Denmark 10-2. The goal was Howden’s first in the tournament (he had two last year), and he tied his assist total from last year’s World Junior with three. He finished with a plus-three and one shot on goal.

Jonathan Huberdeau added to his tournament leading assist total with an assist on Canada’s fourth goal. He leads the World Juniors with six assists and is tied with linemates Mark Stone and Ryan Strome for the lead in points. He ended the game with five shots on goal and a plus-three.

Yaroslav Kosov scored Russia’s 12th goal in their 14-0 defeat of Latvia. Kosov finished the game with three shots on net and a plus-one.

Tomorrow two teams with Panthers prospects square-off at Rexall Place in Edmonton, Alberta, Canada. The United States look to rebound from their shocking loss to Finland, as they face the Czech Republic. This game will be at 3:30 pm EST and can be seen on NHL Network. The second will be Finland versus Denmark at 8:00 pm EST.
