Rosenborg IHK Elite squandered a golden opportunity at home to move into seventh place but did manage to hold on to the eighth spot by falling 4-3 in a shootout to the Storhamar Dragons in Thursday action from Norway’s GET-ligaen. Florida Panthers forward Jack Skille scored to send the game to extra time with just sixteen seconds remaining, salvaging a valuable point for Rosenborg. Skille also added an assist, had six shots on goal and finished with +2 rating while skating on the first line with Ilya Dubkov and Lou Dickenson. The early third period helper extended Skille's scoring streak to four games.

Storhamar, looking to boost their two point lead in the standings over Rosenborg, jumped out to an early 1-0 advantage on an even strength goal from Christian Larriveé at the 9:07 mark of the opening period. Rosenborg evened the game less than three minutes later as Jesper Eriksen converted a power play chance for his second goal of the season. Storhamar regained the lead as Joakim E. Jensen scored a power play marker before the end of the stanza.

In the second period, Jensen scored again on the power play to give the Dragons a 3-1 lead while goaltender Tommy Johansen turned aside all 18 Rosenborg shots during the frame

Skille took charge for Rosenborg in the third period. He combined with Dubkov to set up Lou Dickenson for his ninth goal of the campaign at the 3:44 mark. With time running out and Rosenborg goalie Andreas Mundal Micka on the bench for an extra attacker, Skille scored with sixteen seconds left on the clock to send the game to overtime. Inge Stokvik drew the only assist on the tally.

After a scoreless overtime the game went to shootout. Skille went first for Rosenborg and was stopped by Johansen. Mundal Micka denied Nathan Martz to complete the first round. In the second round Johansen stopped Rasmus Juell while Pål Johnsen converted for Storhamar. Lou Dickenson needed to score to extend the game but could not beat Johansen who finished the game with 45 saves.

The point Rosenborg gained in the loss kept them one ahead of ninth place Tonsberg IH who defeated Lillehammer IK 5-2 today. Skille now has 12 points (6G/6A) in 9 games with Rosenborg IHK Elite.
