Remember this guy? If you've only skimmed the boxscores, probably not. Forward Jack Skille scored his first goal for the Florida Panthers since February 12 and it was massive: with the Senators prepping to pull netminder Robin Lehner for an extra attacker late in the third period it was Skille - from a gorgeous play by Shawn Matthias - to the rescue with a breathtaking insurance marker at 18:34. He also picked up his first assist in three games while adding 4 hits, 1 BkS and 2 SOG. Video and more after the jump...

Why last night rocked:

  • PHI over WSH, 1-0 (REG); Caps have been shutout in last two, outscored 6-0. Face CAR tomorrow.
  • NYI over NJD, 1-0 (REG); Devs downed WSH 5-0 Friday only to implode in Nassau. Isles beat da Broons Saturday as well.
  • NYR over BOS, 4-3 (REG); Cats only five back of the Bruins, who are 2-3-1 in past six.

Why last night jonesed:

  • Three clubs Florida needed to lose, did...and all in regulation. Not to mention defeating Ottawa - in stunning come-from-behind fashion, Jersey-style - for the first time since we had a manned spaceflight program with a (relatively) robust schedule. Not seeing a whole lot to cry about here.

Panthers Playoff Update:

Why tonight is a Big Deal in SoFla:

Focusing on clubs within 6 points of Panthers (66P); teams FLA needs to lose in bold

  • BUF (68P) at WPG (70P), 8 p.m. (NBC-SN); if there's an anti-Sabres argument to be made, we'd love to hear it. Jets' winners of past two with points in all three vs Buffalo in 2011-12.

Next up for the Cats:

Did you know:

  • Before yesterday, the Panthers hadn't beaten Ottawa by more than one goal in Sunrise since March 31, 2009 (5-2). Florida only picked up one further victory 10 months later - 3-0 in Kanata - before the infamous nine-game skid.

On the table:

Sunday’s Organizational News:

  • D Erik Gudbranson (presumably a non-injury situation) was out of the lineup vs OTT
  • Missed this yesterday, but it would appear the Rampage are on a bit of a roll
