Saturday Recap: Florida Panthers at the IIHF World Championship, Semifinals

Jacob Markstrom and Sweden advance to the gold medal game tomorrow against Switzerland while Nick Bjugstad and the USA will face Finland for the bronze.

Florida Panthers goaltender Jacob Markstrom watched from the bench as Jhonas Enroth made 30 saves to lead Sweden to a 3-0 victory over Finland today at the Globe Arena in Stockholm. The win moves Sweden into tomorrow's gold medal game versus Switzerland at 2:30 pm EST. Loui Eriksson scored two power-play goals for the Swedes. Daniel and Henrik Sedin assisted on both of the Eriksson goals. Henrik Sedin scored the final goal into an empty net to seal the win. Antti Raanta made 29 stops for Finland. The Finns will play for the bronze medal in the early game tomorrow. Nick Bjugstad had a tough outing in the USA's 3-0 loss to Switzerland. The Panthers center took one shot on goal, went 2/4 on draws and finished with a -2 rating while logging 9:01 minutes of ice time. Nino Niederreiter scored the game-winner in the second period and set up Reto Suri's empty net clincher. Reto Berra made 29 stops to post the shutout while John Gibson took the loss for the Americans. The USA will face Finland for the bronze medal tomorrow at 10 am EST.
