IIHF Worlds: Huberdeau extends scoring streak to three games

Canada 6, Italy 1 (Group A)

Florida Panthers forward Jonathan Huberdeau drew an assist on Brayden Schenn’s final goal of the game as Canada hammered Italy 6-1. Huberdeau logged 12:08 TOI and finished the game with two shots on goal and a +2 rating. Defenseman Erik Gudbranson continued his solid play, logging 16:39 TOI, with two shots on goal and a +2 rating. He also picked up a minor for delaying the game in the second period. Cody Hodgson scored twice for Canada, giving him six goals in the tournament. David Borrelli was the only Italian to beat goalie James Reimer. Click here for a detailed recap of the game.

USA 4, Kazakhstan 3 (OT) (Group B)

Nashville’s Seth Jones rescued Team USA with a huge overtime goal to give the Americans a 4-3 win over Kazakhstan, it was Jones’ second goal of the contest. The young defenseman has amassed six points in the last two games.The Cats forward trio of Hayes, Shore, and Trocheck went scoreless, again. Drew Shore received more shifts than usual in today’s game. The former Denver Pioneer logged 13:10 TOI, went 3/5 on draws, finished with a -1 rating, while failing to register a shot on goal. Jimmy Hayes fired three shots on goal and finished with a -1 rating in 9:27 TOI. Vincent Trocheck went 5/8 on face-offs, had two shots on goal, and finished with a -1 rating in 10:36 TOI.
