Florida Panthers forward Drew Shore set up Tyler Johnson's empty-net clincher as Team USA skated to a huge 3-1 win over Finland. It was Johnson's second goal of the game and fourth of the tournament. Nashville's Seth Jones continued his torrid scoring pace with two assists. The young defenseman has picked up eight points in the last three games. In addition to the helper, Shore logged 13:30 TOI, went 2/5 on draws, finished with a +1 rating, and had three shots on goal. Jimmy Hayes failed to register a shot on goal, took a slashing minor and finished with an even rating in 9:57 TOI. Vincent Trocheck went 5/6 on face-offs, had one shots on goal, and also finished with an even rating in 11:37 TOI. Tim Thomas stopped 22 of 23 shots to post the win. Jonathan Huberdeau drew an assist on Brayden Schenn's second period goal that got Canada on the board, sparking the team to a comeback 3-2 overtime decision over Sweden to take the lead in Group A. Huberdeau failed to convert on a first period penalty shot, logged 13:02 TOI and finished the game with two shots on goal and an even rating. Defenseman Erik Gudbranson continued his solid play, logging 9:36 TOI, with one shot on goal and a +1 rating. He also picked up a minor for high sticking in the second period.
