C'mon, eight is enough... Pirates drop 2-1 overtime decision to Bridgeport

Portland remains winless (0-4-3-1) in the month of March

After falling in overtime Friday night in Hartford, the Portland Pirates dropped a 2-1 decision in Bridgeport with Sound Tigers forward Alan Quine delivering the game-winning goal, on a power play, three minutes into the extra session.

Quine's goal was set up by Tanner Fritz, and sent the reeling Pirates to their eighth straight defeat. The last time Portland won was on February 28th, when they beat Springfield 4-2. Kyle Rau was called for hooking to give Bridgeport the man-advantage.

Mike Halmo staked the Sound Tigers to a first period lead when he scored at the 13:06 mark. Quine and James Wright drew the assists on the power-play goal.

Mike Matheson salvaged a point for the Pirates when he notched his sixth of the season, from Corban Knight, with 4:16 left in regulation time.

Stephon Williams posted the win in relief of starter Christopher Gibson, who was knocked out of the tilt by a John McFarland charge at 4:23 of the third period. McFarland was ejected from the game.

Williams stopped 10 of 11 shots after Gibson turned away all 27 shots he faced Sam Brittain finished with 20 saves for the Pirates.

Portland (31-24-5-2) will finish its three-game road trip this afternoon against the Lehigh Valley Phantoms.
