According to the Sun Sentinel's Harvey Fialkov, the Florida Panthers have signed skilled forward Denis Malgin to an entry-level contract.

Once the deal is official and the contract parameters are on the likes of General Fanager, we'll update the article with that information.

Malgin spent most of last season with the ZSC Lions in Switzerland's National League A That's the same team phenom Auston Matthews played for, by the way. The undersized Cats' prospect put up 5 goals and 12 assists in 38 games for Zurich. He also played 7 games in the Swiss B League for GCK Lions, scoring 2 goals and 3 assists.

The Panthers selected Malgin in the fourth round (102nd overall) of the 2015 Entry Draft.

While Malgin is just 5'9", 176 lbs, he has spent the last three years playing against men in his home country. He is expected to spend this season with the AHL's Springfield Falcons, adjusting to the more physical style of North American play.

Dobber Prospects Brendan Ross had this to say about Malgin back in the summer of 2015:

In a similar mold as fellow Swiss forward Kevin Fiala, Denis Malgin is a short stocky offensively gifted pivot who was easily his nation’s best player in international competition this season. Ranked higher than he’ll likely land come draft time, Malgin’s an intelligent and patient attacker with paralyzing one-on-one skills. He’s far from a complete player but it’s not due to ineptness. Teams should be advised not to sleep on Malgin’s pro-style game.

Malgin is on hand for this week's development camp in Coral Springs. He will be wearing #62.
