Happy Hump Day, Florida Panthers fans! Let’s get to the organizational stuff first this morning.
Congratulations to prospects Sam Brittain and Thomas Schemitsch, who are moving on to the second round of the ECHL playoffs. Brittain made 26 saves and Schemitsch had two assists in the Manchester Monarchs 6-5 overtime win over the Adirondack Thunder. The Monarchs took the series, despite playing four straight road games, four games to two and will face the Brampton Beast next.
In the QMJHL semifinals, Samuel Montembeault made 19 saves in Blainville-Boisbriand’s 5-4 win over Charlottetown. The Armada took a 2-1 lead in the series. The win was Montembeault’s tenth of the postseason.
The Stanley Cup playoffs return tonight with second round action beginning with the two Western Conference series. The Nashville Predators will visit the St. Louis Blues (NBCSN - 8 pm) and the Anaheim Ducks will host the Edmonton Oilers (NBCSN - 10:30 pm).
- If you haven’t entered your second round picks in our LBC predictions contest yet, make sure you do it by 8 pm tonight. Very happy to see a much higher retention rate among our prognosticators from round one to two this year.
