Longtime Florida Panthers goaltending prospect Sam Brittain made 25 saves and registered an assist in the Manchester Monarchs 4-0 win over the Brampton Beast. The Monarchs took a two games to one lead in the second round ECHL playoff series.

Brittan is having an impressive postseason with Manchester. He has started all nine games and posted a 6-3 record, with a 2.00 GAA and .931 save percentage.

Thomas Schemitsch also suited up for the Monarchs and drew the secondary assist on Matt Leitner’s first period power-play goal and finished the game with an even rating.

In the Stanley Cup playoffs, Kevin Shattenkirk scored a power-play goal 3:13 into overtime to give the Washington Capitals a huge 3-2 win over the Pittsburgh Penguins. The Capitals led 2-0 late in the third period before the Penguins rallied to force the extra session on goals from Evgeni Malkin and Justin Schultz. Washington’s victory cut Pittsburgh’s lead in the series to two games to one. Sidney Crosby left the game after taking a hit to the head in the first period from Matt Niskanen, who was ejected.

Tonight’s action sees the Ottawa Senators visit the New York Rangers (NBCSN - 7 pm). The Senators lead the series two games to none. In the late game, the St. Louis Blues will play host to the Nashville Predators (NBCSN - 9:30 pm) at Scottrade Center. The Blues will look to even that series at two games apiece.
