The Calgary Flames have signed restricted free agent Sam Bennett to a two-year deal worth $3.9 million. Bennett scored 13 goals and added 13 assists in 81 games for the Flames in the final season of his entry-level contract.
With Bennett and Calgary coming to terms, there are eight restricted free agents remaining unsigned. Marcus Foligno, David Pastrnak, Nikita Zadorov, Bo Horvat, Josh Anderson, Petteri Lindbohm, Andreas Anthanasiou, and Damon Severson. Horvat and the Vancouver Canucks are reportedly close to a new deal.
The Winnipeg Jets extended the contracts of both general manager Kevin Cheveldayoff and head coach Paul Maurice, according to TSN Hockey Insider Darren Dreger.
