A trio of big moves happened in the Atlantic Division yesterday, so let’s get to those first.

The Buffalo Sabres acquired winger Jeff Skinner from the Carolina Hurricanes for prospect Nicholas Pu and three draft picks. Skinner waived his no-movement clause to head north to the Queen City. The Sabres have added both quality and quantity to its roster this offseason in an attempt to escape the division’s basement. More on the trade at Die By The Blade and Canes Country.

Now on to Ottawa... The Senators avoided an arbitration hearing with forward Mark Stone by agreeing to a one-year deal worth $7.35 million. Stone will become an unrestricted free agent at the end of the 2018-19 season, casting doubt on much longer he will remain a Senator. (Silver Seven Sens)

An arbitrator award Ottawa defenseman Cody Ceci a one-year contract. Reportedly, Ceci went into the arbitration meeting asking for a $6 million salary, while the Senators countered with $3.35 million. The new deal enables Ceci to become a restricted free agent with arbitration rights again next summer. (Silver Seven Sens)

The Dallas Stars signed restricted free agent center Gemel Smith to a one-year contract worth $720K after he was awarded those terms in arbitration. Smith scored six goals in 46 games for the Stars last season. (Dallas News)
