Auston Matthews scored a goal and added an assist to power the Toronto Maple Leafs to a 3-2 win over the visiting Boston Bruins. The Buds took a 2-1 lead in the series. Trevor Moore and Andreas Johnsson scored the other Toronto goals and Frederik Andersen made 34 saves. David Krejci and Charlie Coyles lit the lamp for Boston.
Rookie forward Warren Foegele scored twice and Dougie Hamilton notched a pair of power-play goals in the Carolina Hurricanes 5-0 rout of the Washington Capitals in Raleigh. Petr Mrazek only had to make 18 stops to post the shutout and Brock McGinn added a goal and assist. Alex Ovechkin knocked out Andrei Svechnikov during a first period fight. The Capitals lead the series 2-1.
Hobey Baker-winner Cale Makar scored a goal in his NHL debut as the host Colorado Avalanche ripped Mike Smith, who finished with 50 saves, and the Calgary Flames by a 6-2 count. Nathan MacKinnon registered two power-play goals and set up Makar’s tally in the first period. Matt Nieto, Mikko Rantanen and Erik Johnson also scored for the Avs, who took a 2-1 series lead. Sam Bennett and T.J. Brodie got the Calgary goals.
Mikael Granlund’s goal with 8:19 left in regulation gave the visiting Nashville Predators a 3-2 victory over the Dallas Stars. The Predators took a 2-1 lead in the series. Former Florida Panthers forward Rocco Grimaldi scored for the second straight game and Filip Forsberg also tallied for the Predators. Mats Zuccarello and Tyler Seguin scored for Dallas, who tied the game midway through the third after falling behind by two. Pekka Rinne made 40 stops for Nashville.

Serron Noel registered two shots on goal and an even rating in the Oshawa Generals 3-2 win over the Niagara IceDogs. The Generals won the series four games to two and advanced the OHL’s Eastern Conference final where they will play the Ottawa 67s starting on Thursday. Noel has put up 10 points (3G/7A) in 10 postseason games thus far.
