Panthers news

Aleksi Heponiemi’s Liiga season ended in very tough fashion for the Florida Panthers prospect. Heponiemi was the guilty party in the penalty box, serving a double-minor for high-sticking, when Markus Nenonen scored 15:24 into overtime to give HPK a 2-1 win over Karpat. Heponiemi didn’t register a shot on goal and logged 19:56 TOI in the game. HPK came back from a 3-1 series deficit to win the league title. Heponiemi did not produce a point in the seven-game final round and finished the postseason with just 3 goals and no assists in 17 games. A far cry from the numbers (46 points in 50 games) he put up during the regular season.
